The english audio language files seem to be (according to their size, read all to understand)
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
and text files seem to be
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
(in \Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks)
French audio files for french version are for example (note sure but highly probable because these files appear only if i choose french version on steam settings)
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
and text files seem to be
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.pak
(so so by comparing the size of the files I could estimate which were the English language files)
But if you try to delete these files, rename them, or replace them with the English files for example, the result is: no more sounds in the dialog, nor even subtitle (but I haven't tried all the combinations yet though)
I also tried to configure the game in English directly on Steam and then add these files... but no change the game remains totally in English
I think that the labial syncronization system must prevent a simple modification... but I'm not sure it's just a guess.
If it can help to find solutions ....
EDIT
This information is not really useful or accurate, I prefer to cross it out to avoid putting you on the wrong track.
I don't think so. You can change the audio language on PS5 and Epic. Solution must be somewhere.
Still nice work from you, tho.
Oh yes, good point! So maybe a simple solution based on replacing/renaming files and/or modifying an .ini would do the trick. We have to keep looking!
If I delete (for my french version)
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk15-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk5-WindowsNoEditor.pak
My game is still in French text, but no more voice or written subtitles.
So obviously these files are linked to both subtitles and audio, and not necessarily to the rest of the text.
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk11-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.utoc
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.pak
pakchunk1-WindowsNoEditor.ucas
So these files would be linked to the audio and subtitles dor English (if these files are the right ones)
EDIT
Or it means that the subtitles are conditioned to the activation of the audio dialogues. Which seems to be how it works, otherwise on PS4 you couldn't just add the English audio patch. So we need to figure out how to replace these files with the English files maybe. But for the moment my tests turned out not to work, I had no sound in the dialogues.
I'm french too, btw. Je suis pas le seul à détester les VF au plus au point, visiblement...
Ahah excellent. ça me rend dingue, la VF est vraiment à côté de la plaque, ça me sort complètement du jeu
Clairement...
