Atmos or Surround doesn't seem right to me.
Hi everybody,

I've only had time to play 30 minutes and had my PC on Atmos but I was noticing I wasn't really getting surround.

Changed (windows) tot 7.1 (alt-tabbing) and it wasn't any better.

My test is always to turn around if someone is talking to me and see if the the voice of the other character comes out of the rear speakers. It didn't. Just felt/sound like I just got stereo.

Anybody else not getting good surround through HDMI --> Receiver --> 5.1/7.1/Atmos?

Game looks great though!

Same here. I've tried all the audio configurations and only seem able to get stereo. I don't see how they can call it the home theater config, if it's only stereo.

Even though the audio is ATMOS I've heard very few sounds come from the rear speakers. Voices seem to exclusively come from front speakers. Appears to be very broken.

I got it working by selecting 7.1 in the Windows config. But no ATMOS I'm afraid 😐

Hey just FYI I am getting the same too, did a search on here to see what is going on. 5.1.2 Atmos setup.

Setting to 5.1 or 7.1 in windows makes surround sound work correctly, it upmixes to my height speakers but yeah they need to fix the Atmos bug here. With it turned on it isn't working correctly at all.

Totally agree. 7.1 is fine. And I haven't checked if the consoles have true Atmos...but it should be a given right? Even Witcher 3 Next Gen has Atmos Support now. But it's nitpicking and still niche I guess. Thx for responding all!

I have an Xbox Series X and can confirm Atmos is working fine on it on a sound bar for this game. Totally different setup in my house. This is a PC issue with using the Dolby Atmos spatial set in Windows. Game doesn’t know what to do with it and reverts to stereo only. Setting to 5.1/7.1 works correctly. There are a couple other threads of people complaining about it too.

Not the first PC game as of recent to do this or act goofy, I usually bug the devs on their forums/site and sometimes they fix it lol.

Submitted one, seems like the bug report template is more structured for quest bugs but I tried to get around that.

How did you configure? Because I have 5.1 for others game but in Hogwart, no 5.1, is this game is compatible with DTS or Dolby? I have optical output

Atmos is working for me on my Denon. I’ve got everything set up through Dolby access and have it enabled via the windows sound menu.

I’m also using EARC with pass through.

I have the same setup but only get stereo output over atmos. If i spin the camera when someone is talking to me they never sound like they are behind me, if i switch to 7.1 it works fine.

I’ll double check when I get home but I know my front and rear ceiling ‘atmos’ speakers are working. I know this shouldn’t be an issue for an atmos game, but do you have the channel upmixer enabled as well?
