Not letting me manual save

Hl won't let me manual save. I'm still at the beginning of the game when you find Gringott's. When I click manual save it says it is unavailable to manually save but autosave will still work. Why won't it manually save? How do I fix this issue? I got twenty minutes past where it auto saved before I had to stop and it refuses to allow me to manually save it. Like I said, I just started so confused.

once you get past the prologue you can manually save

Doing the same to me and im not in prologue and its not auto saving either. I just lost about 2 hours because I failed a sneak mission and it bounced me back to the last save.... 2 hours ago. Went from level 10 to 2
