I have to admit if this game wasn't hogwarts and the known wizard world, I Don't think it would get any attention at all and probably a 7/10.

The IGN review is almost entirely critical but gives it 9/10 just because the world of hogwarts which JKR made is just that good.

Same problems or worse with forspoken but Hogwarts alone is worth 2-3 points everywhere.. people are amazing.

Well that terrible live service Avengers game got high reviews because of the license.

A popular license will inflate scores and audience perception. Lots of folks excited for this game because it's Hogwarts. They wouldn't be interested otherwise. Nothing wrong with it. It's just a thing.

Game of the year isn't decided only by reviewer scores. A game so divisive as this (just stating a fact, not picking a side, don't crucify lol, these forums are a very mad place lol) probably isn't a serious contender.

Isn't there a bunch of nintendo ♥♥♥♥ coming out this year anyway? New Zelda will probably take it. Or that might suck. Whoooo cares~ lol

Will be a good game but not GOTY,it will have to compete with the likes of Zelda,Final Fantasy,Starfield and Spider-man 2.

It's a 7 out of 10 at best. The game is too lifeless to be anything higher, in my opinion. There's lots to do but like in many open world games, the majority of it is really shallow.

But HP fanboys are gonna fanboy, and a lot of people will ignore all that's wrong with it out of sheer love for anything Harry Potter.

It's a good, solid game. But a perfect score is ridiculous. But then again he's someone that thinks Skyrim is the best RPG ever, so it's no surprise.
