Rowling is a straight up TERF. She ideologically opposes trans people. So people aren't really taking her out of context. They just disagree with her. (I'm not disagreeing with her, mind you.)
I can understand this and rather then apologize she doubled down on it, because what she said while technically correct is not how they feel or want to be viewed. Basically her statement is the metaphorical equivalent of taking a giant dump on them.
That being said the people who are boycotting the game don't seem to understand the people who developed the game don't agree with what she said and made it entirely possible for you to have a trans character in Hogwarts Legacy.
