60 FPS cap. Really?
This video raised some red flags about the PC version of the game:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPItVDtUBvo
Why is the game always capped at 60 FPS?
Does it only support a hard cap of 30 or 60 FPS?
I hope that's not the case because this is not how you port a game on PC.

Reminds me of Elden Ring, and before that Nier Automata. Sometimes developers design gameplay mechanics with frame rate in mind, and basically create the flow of the action around a locked FPS. Messing with the frame rate can cause all kinds of weird bugs and glitches to happen, so the devs lock it to avoid people breaking their game.

It usually happens when games are designed for consoles, and then ported to PC (as was the case with both Elden RIng and Nier: Automata).

Never fear, if the frame rate IS locked at 30/60, you can bet your ass someone is going to create a mod to unlock it (as was the case with Nier: Automata and Elden Ring).

It's a console port, what did you expect?

It might be an Unreal Engine thing. A lot of UE4 titles are locks to 60 FPS.

A shame too, because I would have loves to play Final Fantasy VII remake at a buttery 90 FPS.

NieR automata I unlocked, and it broke for me

It’s a UE4 game, it’s not capped.

“Up to 360 fps”

did they actually say it has a 60fps cap? no, you are just spiraling over a title

I prefer getting as close to my max refresh rate as possible (120), even in single player games that are not FPS.

If I get locked 60 vs locked 120 - the 120 looks and feels much better - more smooth.

what does this statement even mean

120 fps is very good, but 60 fps it's very cool to...no problem with that

Nier Automata required a lot of work to get it to a good state on PC... but it was worth the hassle. One of my top 5 games of all time.

Need for Speed Rivals comes to mind!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDA37BmvNwM :P

To clarify, the game runs at 30 FPS, when you uncap it to 60 FPS, everything goes twice as fast and ruins the physics.

EDIT: I thought it would embed the video, but anyway. The video shows a Need for Speed game being heavily tied to FPS. Which is kinda funny and sad.

60 FPS is not smooth. It's more of an eye comfort thing. 90 just "feels" better, more comfortable. Even 60FPS is too low, especially for an action title.

It is not 60 fps locked - I've seen videos of ppl hitting 140 fps at 4kUltraRT using DLSS3. In this video they're either vsynced (at 60Hz) or frame limited to 60 fps.
