ROMANCE IS NOT SEX, SEX IS NOT ROMANCE
Listen, I don't care one way or another about romance in the game. In fact I err on the side of it not being included. But if I see one more person get ripped for asking about its inclusion because people can't fathom that romance and sex aren't the same thing, I'm going to delete my Steam account. (Okay I'm exaggerating.)

You know where you can find sex? Strip clubs. How much romance is there at a strip club? Exactly none.

Likewise, there's plenty of romance to be found in holding your girlfriend while she cries at her father's funeral. But please tell me you don't expect there to be sex in this scenario.

Romance is defined as, quote, "Ardent emotional attachment or involvement between people; love." There is absolutely no reason 5th years at Hogwarts couldn't reasonably feel such attachment towards eachother.

Don't want romance in the game? Great! Neither do I. But for the love of all that's decent and wholesome, stop accusing people of being human filth for asking if it's in the game.

gotta think about the developers involved they shouldnt have to create kids having relationships with one another, they didnt sign up for that, they're Grown adults, just because kids have relationships in real life doesnt mean they need to be in the video game, simple as that, end of story

So, it's would be the same with movie/book author creating teen series with teen romance, like in Harry Potter Movies or any american series with stories about High-School

In a book its a bit different, because we are not actually harry potter. I wanted harry to succeed in life ever since he was licking the salt out of the chip bags in the trash. I was invested in HIS story. It was more like rooting for a friend.

Sorry, but when i play a character in a game, i'm not the character, i'm invested in his/her story (depending of the character i make), but this story isn't mine
If there's one thing we know know adolescent students are interested in, it's "romance", and not sex.

Never happens.

the big brain thinks romance but the small brain thinks otherwise
Agreed.

Anyone that thinks romance content = sex content prolly watches too much porn.
I always skip romance in games. Most of the time Romance is just a BS aspect thrown in that 99.9% of the time does absolutely nothing. Its very rare a game makes Romance a mechanic that helps your character or progress in the game. Its always just a BS thing put in so some low level Dev can have a job.

Perhaps that's the disconnect. For me, I enjoy crafting characters to put into the world. Whereas others might be plugging themselves directly into the game. Perhaps that's where the people asking for this clash with folks like Miro Fox.

It may be that they're creating an original character, while Miro Fox and company are looking to plug themselves into the setting.

With that understanding, I certainly understand his position a bit better.

I dont want to speak for anyone else, but.
I think the reason alot of us are of this mindset is because of the advertising for this game.
They did state multiple times that finally we can go to hogwarts and live the experience as ourselves in this game. That we get a deep character customizer and for all i know our character is not actually named? Not sure about that last one.

It just gives off the impression we are meant to be projecting ourselves into the game ya know? From a design and marketing standpoint.

But i do also understand that not everyone desires to play that way. I mean its totally fun to go into skyrim modded and wipe out all the men, women and children in the cities.
And it certainly doesnt make you a mass murderer or a weirdo for doing it.

If people fell for Marketing, then the problem lies on them, because marketing is also known as "the Art of Bullshitery"
Or just buy and play Lust Academy and bang 'not' Hermione.

or College Kings, slightly less explicit
Surprised to see so many dramatic people. Did you not play Persona 5? It had romance and was very successful.

Oh for sure. Its just i wanted to point that out as its how its being presented. And its reasonable to assume people will have expectations.

Regardless marketing is doing a good job on showing off gameplay and everything in the game. I dont think they have to lie and stuff with how much hype the game has i think it can stand on its own no?

There are many past games with schoolkids having romance like kissing or holding hands. As I said a few pages ago, people just like to troll about to trigger something. Would be same as if someone would ask for pets in game and a troll jumps in front of you "Oh, you are into animals, you creep".

I dunno, I like to think better of them myself. I think their intentions are good. The discourse online today is far more charged than it was in the past, so I think people have a tendency to assume the worst about eachother. When someone says "Will the game have romance?", many of those people lump it in with all the actual creeper posts and get lit with righteous fervor.

At least, that's what I assume is happening.
Meh glad they are leaving that out. Nothing will beat (in gaming) Geralt smashing Yen’s guts on a stuffed unicorn anyway.
