Worst character creation EVER
I mean, seriously, compared to all known and set RPG standards, this game falls short on any of them. 2009's Dragon Age; Origins has better character creator than this debacle and it's 2023.

Am I the only person who is seriously disappointed by this? There is hardly anyone talking about it. I'm specifically talking about the presets and face shapes. There are a dozen or so face presets and that's it. In the live stream they even talked about how you could make yourself and every character you would like and then showed us this. How am I supposed to make myself from a preset? If they're going down the preset route then fine, but I don't understand why we only get to choose between face shapes and there is no way to change individual features like nose, mouth, and eye shape. And I'm not even beginning to talk about voice pitch customizing, oh boy can you make yourself sound like a total donut.

This all combined is just absolutely ridiculous, unacceptable and intolerable for any serious AAA title. They're making an RPG (or aRPG at that matter, I know there are many snowflakes out there who get triggered by the mere mention of the word RPG considering any game) and they have failed at the very start, ability to immerse yourself by creating a character that looks like you.

They've included ability to play as a transgender character and named male and female voice options "voice 1" and "voice 2" but it seems their budget ended on adding proper customization. Just pathetic.

while all valid points, you wont see many agreeing with you. Hype is a helluva drug and these people in here paid to be hyped. the last thing they wanna hear is how bad something about this game is. You are right though, character creation is a joke.

as someone who loves character creation I see no major issues with this.

there are plenty of games with much much worse character creation. this one fits the bill and still adds a bit of diversity and uniqueness to your character.

What kind of diversity are you talking about? It's gonna be one of those games where you see clones of your character all over the Community Hub because it's just presets.

its like 30 presets with like 50 haircuts and like 90 colors for each thing like 30 eyebrow and eye differences, and this can be blended in both a male or female model with no restrictions not to mention the very likely gigantic list of fashion items to make your character even more unique through gameplay.

I'd ask if these boring posts will stop but I already know the answer.

Not sure if this game will have an extensive wardrobe, considering you're still in school.

I understand your frustration and disappointment with the character customization options in this game. It does seem like a missed opportunity, especially considering the standards set by other RPG games in the past. The limited presets and face shapes can make it difficult to create a character that resembles oneself, and the lack of options for individual features such as nose, mouth, and eye shape can further hinder the ability to fully immerse in the game. The lack of voice pitch customization is also a valid concern.

However, it's important to remember that game development is a complex process with many constraints, including budget, time, and resources. The developers might have had different priorities, or they might have faced challenges in implementing more robust character customization options. Nevertheless, I understand that this falls short of what you expected from a AAA title and I hope that future games will offer more robust character customization options.

I do like how the hair looks, as that's usually the lowest quality part of character creators. I also find it really funny that they did all this work-around for LGBTQ+ inclusivity just to have it come down to the binary of "are you a witch or wizard?".
Witch is actually a gender neutral term

The problem will be with other language, like French for example

(M) Magicien / (F) Magicienne
(M) Sorcier / (F) Sorcière

Only Mage could be close to neutral, even tho it's not really neutral since it's stated as being a Masculine Word, because of the lack of feminine variant, some people say "(M) Un Mage" or "(F) Une Mage" even if it's not "officially" in french language, but it will still not be totally neutral but French is heavily gendered

Better Character creator than Forspoken had.

Honnestly, this type of character creation isn't something rare, Ubisoft games use a way worse Character Creation system, i do like having many options to change the face and body of my character in games, but it's not a necessary thing to me, it just mean that i will not be able to create what i had in mind visually but also that i will take less time on the Creation screen

Not sure if you can actually create your own character in many Ubisoft games lol

I always pick default character, have no idea why people need character creator.

As someone who just hits "randomize" until i get a random character that I like.. I don't care about customization. a default character is good enough for me even.

In "true"RPGs it make sense since denpending on the Background and Skills of your character, you will have multiple possibilities to do thing, the visual creation is just here for expressing a roleplay part like most RPGs does with table top RPG games, and it also let the player make a character that look how they want because having a fixed character can bother some players (for example, in Witcher games, i don't like Geralt look, and don't want to play GoW games because of Kratos)

You do know Harry Potter didn't exist in 1800 because he wasn't born.
Ok Hermione
