Worst character creation EVER

I mean, seriously, compared to all known and set RPG standards, this game falls short on any of them. 2009's Dragon Age; Origins has better character creator than this debacle and it's 2023.

Am I the only person who is seriously disappointed by this? There is hardly anyone talking about it. I'm specifically talking about the presets and face shapes. There are a dozen or so face presets and that's it. In the live stream they even talked about how you could make yourself and every character you would like and then showed us this. How am I supposed to make myself from a preset? If they're going down the preset route then fine, but I don't understand why we only get to choose between face shapes and there is no way to change individual features like nose, mouth, and eye shape. And I'm not even beginning to talk about voice pitch customizing, oh boy can you make yourself sound like a total donut.

This all combined is just absolutely ridiculous, unacceptable and intolerable for any serious AAA title. They're making an RPG (or aRPG at that matter, I know there are many snowflakes out there who get triggered by the mere mention of the word RPG considering any game) and they have failed at the very start, ability to immerse yourself by creating a character that looks like you.

They've included ability to play as a transgender character and named male and female voice options "voice 1" and "voice 2" but it seems their budget ended on adding proper customization. Just pathetic.

I'm guessing the facial animations probably limited the amount of facial morphing they could allow. It already has some "interesting" affects on the face in some scenes.

My only complaint is that the goofy smile makes the character look off almost every time you see them. I wonder if its mostly a bug. But the faces in general don't really look good in actual play. As opposed to the cutscenes where they do look similar to the creation.

Very well said. I've noted the same. Twice I created what I supposed was an attractive avatar, but in game she smiles and she doesn't look quite right.

I mean, I was actually disappointed by the character creation as well. Especially when you see your character all the time because third person game. No different noses, eyes, jaws ect. I wished it would have been more like sims character creator or fallout 4. I think the characters are not unigue amongst npcs. I've seen atleast three same-looking students as I am in Hogwarts now, and I must say, it pisses me off a bit.

All these replies make me mad and make me want to alog so bad but i can't and that makes me even more mad. I can tell based on how people reply here that the average age is probably 15. The children who are here saying "oh it doesn't bother me, sounds like YOU are the problem" are the reason why games nowadays suck. Download/buy any open-world/RPG indie game and you will have a pretty decent character creator (eg. My Time At Portia/Sandrock and even Stardew Valley). The fact that the majority here are coping so hard that they wasted their birthday money on a below average game is honestly comical. I feel like there is more behind it. It seems like terminally online kids nowadays need something to defend, something to be mad at, a community to be part of, and this flavor of the month is Hogwarts Legacy. Next month they will be screeching at something else. The internet truly was a mistake.

It's a single-player game. I myself see no point in wasting time on creation when there's no-one else to see it. Think yourself lucky they didn't just set up one male and one female character to choose from.
