This Game Will Definitely Start The Next Mod Controversy.
Was gonna post this on Reddit, but figured it'd get taken down based on the rules of the subreddit I was looking at. Probably not a prediction that requires much thought, but I figured I'd make it anyways.

If you follow modding, you may recall when Sony Spiderman came to PC, a single mod caused a huge uproar. The mod in question replaced the LGBT flags with US flags. Again, big upset. Nexus took it's stance and pulled the mod whilst banning the modder. Everyone took sides and voiced their opinions one way or the other. And all the gaming outlets milked that cow for a week. In the end it didn't really mean much. You can still find that mod, just not on the big sites.

My prediction is this: someone is definitely going to make a mod to remove all the gender neutral terminology/settings in the character creator. I say all, but based on what we've seen, there's only one setting they would change. The tone. There's two; voice one is masculine and voice two is feminine. I imagine if a modder wanted they would just change "tone" to "voice" or "gender" and turn the options into "male" and "female."

And that single change will spark a huge outcry of claims of bigotry and hate that will lead to mod sites taking stances and everyone under the sun crying out about censorship and phobia in equal measure. And the gaming outlets will milk that cow for a week just like the last one. And just like the last one, it'll probably amount to nothing cause the mod will probably show up in other places.

Now I'm not saying any of this to take a side, merely I guess to point out how stupidly predictable our society has become. Tell me if you think this prediction will come to pass. If it does, maybe I'll make a follow-up post.

Okay but how many days until a mod that replaces all wands with dildos?
I'd download that.

the game is running on UE4 and is using Denuvo, modding is going to be non-existant.
Denuvo has nothing to do with that. A game can be modded whilst having Denuvo - unless you are thinking of the anti cheat. Which is not what part of the game.
Denuvo causes a lot of issues and is not modding friendly at all, but again it's not like it matters as UE alone discourages most modders.

Oh man, I head no idea Nexus is buying into this ideology... seeing hundreds of people on steam having hammer & sickle as profile picture and there are even various communist backgrounds and designs on steam while people are going crazy about US flag... what a world. But yeah, SJW's incoming...

Why would you need to mod out Trans creator options when you could.... I know simply not choose a trans character in character creation. Is the temptation just too much for you?

My prediction is that if you feel the need to push through these mods then you have already lost what ever argument you were having with the mirror.

Probably less than a week. Man, that looks funny af in my head.

Oh my god, I laughed so hard.

Who on earth is going crazy about the USA flag? you seem to be having a disagreement with an imaginary enemy.

If I ever need an example of what a Straw-man argument is I now have the OP and yours.

Denuvo causes a lot of issues and is not modding friendly at all, but again it's not like it matters as UE alone discourages most modders.

Denuvo creates a key on your system registry which is what is used to verify you own the game. The anti-tamper part means that the core executable can't be edited which has nothing to do with 99% of mods. So they will never be mods like SKSE for Skyrim. So Denuvo does nothing with modding... Unless you tamper with the exe.

As for mods? It is easy enough to do texture replacements. Or object manipulation. The real tricky part will be adding new items into the game as new instances. But once some one figures it out and spreads the word. It will be like wild fire. Might take awhile though.
I mean I think even caring about what someone does to their game is just as lame and silly to make a mod to make those kind of changes. If someone wants to mod flags to be us flags or mod us flags to be rainbow who tf cares. dont download what you dont want to download.
Like another user said all I know is stuff is gonna go NUCLEAR with this game once someone makes a nude mod, and we all know it's inevitable especially if said user isn't aware of the general ages of the students in this game. It's gonna spark a massive controversy about pixels on a screen, oh the the characters aren't real, blah blah blah while everyone else calls them pedos as expected. Basically the anime loli argument all over again but much worse. It basically would be the big no-no of illegal content, literally considering the ages.

It's GOING to happen no matter what, I personally believe.

Sadly everyone believes their version of what's right is the only version everyone else should use.
This is extremely broad, but many times in my life people angrily say "You always think you're right" or "You always think your opinions are better". At least with home life and school teachers when I was a child I got those words all the time.

I have never truly known what people are trying to do with that.

Of course I think my opinions are the best.

Why would I knowingly and willingly hold onto opinions and facts that I considered to be wrong myself? If i thought my opinions were wrong, I would change them, like most, anyone arguing against me about anything on the internet just resort to chanting "racist, sexist, homophobe" etc. but the same point still stands, why would people expect me to have opinions I know are wrong?
Seems like a huge waste of time.
I honestly think the funniest mod controversy ever was the Spiderman "mod" that removed the pro lgbt stuff.

Like even Sony threw a fit about it.

It was particularly funny because it turned out the "mod" just flipped a switch built into the code of the game that sony put in, so they could easily turn the lgbt stuff off in countries like china.

But I guess its ok when they do it.

I also don't really see the need to avoid the phrases male and female or men and women. The vast majority of people (all cis and most trans people) identify as male/man or female/woman, why force everyone to use weird terms just to make less than 2% of the population happy.

So i would welcome mods that fixed the terms.

That's true. There's full blown sex mods for Skyrim on Nexus. But a texture replacer for a flag? No, that was too far, huh?
I mean, if you don't know the significance of why erasure of LGBTQ was causing so much controversy and more than just a 'texture replacement', then I don't know if there's any hope in explaining it to you.
Not sure if this ignorance is genuine, or feigned and coming from a place of intended malice. :lunar2020thinkingtiger:
Absolute muppet.
A lot of homophobes here. Odd for a game based on Harry Potter.
