Rarely is a character so perfectly cast as Alan Rickman as Professor Snape. However, Alan Rickman is epic in everything he does.

Reading the books for the first time, every line by snape, and every action, I see it as Alan Rickman's portrayal of the character. This adds a lot to the experience in reading the books for me.

Absolutely. Alan Rickman was a true artist when it comes to acting. Just imagine how many children, like Neville, are at first terrified of Snape. Only to love his character as they discover the sacrifice and bravery that is hidden behind his rigid exterior. I love the way that Alan Rickman brought that out in the films.
