Not going to happen because the last time there was a Trizwizard tourment before 1994 was in 1700s (I think it was 1792 but I might be wrong) and they were banned until 1994. there *were* attempts to bring it back but it never happened
There is no other reason for the Yule ball to happen -itss only part of the Triwizard Tourment-there's no other formal event (beside weddings) for Hogwarts students to attend
