I don't take them seriously. So much noise-pollution from those quarters.
Ironically participation-trophies devalues real merit, making real winners suspect....
Anyway, it's an RPG and open world with lots of established lore, so you might want to try out the game on its own, and ignore the noise-pollution from the usual suspects.
Anything virtue-signaling moralizers tell me I should despise I always lean towards loving/enjoying, just a pattern I've noticed over time.
The Streisand Effect, they're just giving more publicity towards the game. And as the saying goes, any publicity is good publicity.
If something upsets gaming"journalists" and social media its probably good.
WB must be really thankful as they're doing a wonderful job at promoting the game.
Ya, the gaming 'newsmedia' is in freefall as their investor-money dries up and they have to fire a bunch of useless people. I think Disney invested $400 million in Vice Media (same poison as Kotaku etc.) and they recognized they'd never recover the money.
Facebook fires 10's of thousands, same with Amazon, Microsoft, Twitter (for good reasons), Google and so on. I think it was 210K people losing their jobs in tech industry.
Disney lost 44% of their value in 2022 alone. So, it's not been a good year for a lot of people.
Jason Schreier was smart enough to jump ship from Kotaku and go solo. The role of these clowns have been taken over by Youtubers like Yellowflash2, That Umbrella Guy, Nerdrotic, TheQuartering and Geeks&Gamers.
