because the entire point of being sorted is to resonate with the house you're put into?? I dont resonate with gryffindor, nor slytherin. gryffindor would be my last choice.

It's a role play thing really, in the lore each house contains students that best suit it due to the traits they possess. People wanna play in the house that suits them, especially since most harry potter simps (like myself) have done the sorting hat test thingy.

Ravenclaw is about knowledge and wit, a ravenclaw would think of smart ways to get out of a tough situation.

Hufflepuff is about loyalty and teamwork. You could trust that your hufflepuff friend would be a true friend.

I probably sound like a massive simp but hey that's us harry potter fans for you.

Im joining Slytherin cause that is what I was housed as but Hufflepuff is my vibe all the way. they only seemed like side houses to you because in the books/movies Gryffindor and Slytherin are the yen and yang of the story of Harry Potter but lore wise they are all equal

You join the other houses because you are not the main character in the game. You aren't even a side character. You role play as just another npc. No one cares what you do or what house you join. You are free to do whatever you want because everyone is paying attention to Harry and he doesn't even speak to you.

Mostly the attitude or personality of the houses, I reckon. Also not being the two "big" focus houses, makes them more mysterious. Some people like being the outliers. With Harry and Draco being defacto 'heroes/main character' of their houses, it leaves the other two open to imagine yourself as such. You may like characters that came from that house.

You do realize this game takes place before even Harry's parents are born, right?

WELL, hufflepuff is for the unmotivated losers of this world. The happy go luckys who don't have any responsibility. The man(woman) childs who sit around and get high and eat mushrooms all day. Ravenclaw is somewhat prestigious but really reserved for the incredibly intelligent yet socially isolated. The loners who just like to study. The bookworms.

so good the devs didn't even give ravenclaw a companion or a companion quest achievement? :/

You reaaaallly asked that didn't you. Well I hope you got your 40 answers.
well, its not so much wanting to join. i mean, everyone wants to be in griffindor because thats decidedly the house of champions. the brave, the courageous, the protagonists. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ron weasely made it in and he was afraid of everything.

but i dont think anyone necessarily wanted to be in slytherin.

If you think about it, the entire think is really offensive. I mean imagine if you went to highschool and the first thing the staff does is sorts all the kids into cliques and says, "this is what you are, yo ucant fight this."

being told you're a griffindor is like being automatically labeled Varsity or a jock. Obviously no one would be disappointed to be handed a trophy like that "congrats, you won highschool already!" nice.

but imagine if the teachers were like, yeah, you're pretty much the worst piece of crap to walk in here so you go to slytherin and dont look the staff in the eyes or we'll expel you, filthy slytherin scum. that wouldnt feel too great I imagine, right?

huffle puffs wouldnt mind being in huffle puff, because again it matches your personality, and I doubt the ravenclaws seem like counter culture to me. like they dont want to be part of the cool kids but they also dont consider them scum bags. they'd be the ones talking about how the system is corrupt, and when they get put into ravenclaw they'd be all like, "pff, whatever dude."

i hope i made that even more confusing for you
