32 GB is enough for now, but 64 GB is an good investment for not having to think about your ram usage or having your pagefile enabled that will trash your SSD lifespan.

ahahahahaa. Everybody is not wealthy enough like u talk.
Then console gaming is for you, pc gaming is more expensive

seems normal for open world. Funny to see the surprise. Must be a lot of first timers to open world games. I would be concerned if it required less. 16 is easy to use up. windows 10 alone uses about 4. Idont wanna know what 11 uses.

That an Unreal Engine 4 sucks

Not sure why everyone thinks this is so normal. Far Cry 5 asks for 8 GB minimum.

Farcry is a different game

people seem to not realize that other things are running, not only the game. This is what they account for in the requirements

the game will likely take less than 10GB. it is the game plus everything else.

it depends on the systems they are using as well.

discord uses 1gig, with images turned off.

so if you have 8GB. you cant run any other software.

with how the mechanics look, i can see that using a bit of ram

I'm already worried my 32 GB is not enough soon, so 16gb minimum doesn't seem like a surprise to me at all.

Lol this game runs on switch/ps4/Xbox one

Of course 16 gigs of ram is more than enough

It’s standard to display system requirements a little higher than required so you’re not lowering settings too much and compromising the fidelity

I have 16gbs of ram and a 1080ti and have no issues running AAA games, newsflash, not everyone is trying to play at 4k

lol you're not very good at reading. I said 16GB or less, not less than 16GB. Never implied that "most steam users can't play Hogwarts Legacy" either. All I did was point out that most users on steam do not have more than 16GB of RAM.

Also I have the deluxe edition preordered on both PC and PS5

Naw my reading comprehension is good enough for the lie you tried to peddle.

Again,
You're stright up lied about "most people" being unable to play the game,
And you lied about the Steams User Hardware report.

You did it last week too,
And I suggest people go through your post history and realize just how much you lie about things on this forum lmao.
I didn't try to lie about anything, you just don't seem capable of understanding what you're reading. Never said or implied that most people won't be able to play the game. I didn't do anything of the sort last week either but feel free to provide more evidence that you don't understand what you're reading if you want

That logic doesn't apply. Consoles are completely different design than PC. Different operating systems and everything. It's completely different programming. That's why it takes over a year to develop a good port. They don't compare.

Consoles take less RAM because their operating system is specially designed and equipped to run on hardware that isn't as beefy because they are designed to be a smaller buy-in. Their file system is different as well.

Look at how weak the Switch is and the price.

Also, Unreal Engine 4 requires you to play at 4K on PC or you will suffer the worse image quality imaginable.

Also, I'm at 1080p and I use over 16GB all the time. With nearly every game. All I have going is discord and a browser with less than 4 tabs. No other background programs that would take any noticeable amount of RAM.

The game itself might be less than 10GB on 1080p, it's the OS and other stuff that makes the need for 16GB so things run SMOOTHLY. Keyword, smoothly.

If you are less than 16GB, it might work, it will just be sluggish, and bumpy.

Seriously? Ram is now an E-peen measurement?

32GB DDR4 is the minimum I'd run with these days, optimally 64GB DDR5 Corsair vengeance would be the better options or alternatives.

99% of games never use more than 16gb, this wont either, unless you wanna slide everything to the right.

They recommend 16gb, well so does games from 2017.. its not really that odd.
One thing you will notice, is that ports often have the 16 as minimum as well, they are so poorly optimized, so will this be, its a console port to PC after all

The fun part I see, is that often people fail to understand the timings, so they get low quality ram with high gb account and timings.
I also see a lot of people pick Cosair over Kingston, that is just silly (both are the same chips used, there is zero difference, outside rgb in some cases) but the cost is higher on carsair (the pirate tax I call it)

A even more fun part is that over half of people getting this ram, don´t even turn on XMP, because they don´t have a clue about what they get (outside the numbers) so they end up with a much lower performance, than they think they have.. hahaha.. its so funny, when people complain, then you make them do a benchmark and they are like... but I have 3600 mhz... why does it say 2133mhz... and then you tell them about xmp...

Elden RIng: 12 GB
Cyberpunk 2077: 8 GB
Call of Duty: Warzone: 8 GB
Red Dead Redemption 2: 8 GB
Lost Ark: 8 GB
Watch Dogs Legion: 8 GB
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries: 8 GB
Apex Legends: 6 GB
Destiny 2: 6 GB
Warframe: 4 GB

In this article[graphicscardhub.com] asking how much you need for gaming in 2023 we read...

Today most of the games list 8GB RAM on the minimum requirements page and some of them also list this on the recommended system requirements too. Some games list 4GB / 6GB as a minimum and 8GB as recommended RAM and some of the most recent games are listing 8GB or 16GB as a minimum and 16GB as the recommended amount of RAM for them.

Gentlemen, I agree that 16 GB is fairly normal for gaming computers these days. But OP's statement was not about the PC. It was about the game's minimum requirements. Now it's true that very recently (Forspoken, Dead Space...), 16 GB has become a more common minimum, but the history tells the story.

However prevalent it's soon to become, t's quite the fact that 16 GB minimums are not, at present, the norm.
