That an Unreal Engine 4 sucks
Not sure why everyone thinks this is so normal. Far Cry 5 asks for 8 GB minimum.
Farcry is a different game
people seem to not realize that other things are running, not only the game. This is what they account for in the requirements
the game will likely take less than 10GB. it is the game plus everything else.
it depends on the systems they are using as well.
discord uses 1gig, with images turned off.
so if you have 8GB. you cant run any other software.
with how the mechanics look, i can see that using a bit of ram
Of course 16 gigs of ram is more than enough
It’s standard to display system requirements a little higher than required so you’re not lowering settings too much and compromising the fidelity
I have 16gbs of ram and a 1080ti and have no issues running AAA games, newsflash, not everyone is trying to play at 4k
Consoles take less RAM because their operating system is specially designed and equipped to run on hardware that isn't as beefy because they are designed to be a smaller buy-in. Their file system is different as well.
Look at how weak the Switch is and the price.
Also, Unreal Engine 4 requires you to play at 4K on PC or you will suffer the worse image quality imaginable.
Also, I'm at 1080p and I use over 16GB all the time. With nearly every game. All I have going is discord and a browser with less than 4 tabs. No other background programs that would take any noticeable amount of RAM.
The game itself might be less than 10GB on 1080p, it's the OS and other stuff that makes the need for 16GB so things run SMOOTHLY. Keyword, smoothly.
If you are less than 16GB, it might work, it will just be sluggish, and bumpy.
I am ok.
99% of games never use more than 16gb, this wont either, unless you wanna slide everything to the right.
They recommend 16gb, well so does games from 2017.. its not really that odd.
One thing you will notice, is that ports often have the 16 as minimum as well, they are so poorly optimized, so will this be, its a console port to PC after all
The fun part I see, is that often people fail to understand the timings, so they get low quality ram with high gb account and timings.
I also see a lot of people pick Cosair over Kingston, that is just silly (both are the same chips used, there is zero difference, outside rgb in some cases) but the cost is higher on carsair (the pirate tax I call it)
A even more fun part is that over half of people getting this ram, don´t even turn on XMP, because they don´t have a clue about what they get (outside the numbers) so they end up with a much lower performance, than they think they have.. hahaha.. its so funny, when people complain, then you make them do a benchmark and they are like... but I have 3600 mhz... why does it say 2133mhz... and then you tell them about xmp...
Elden RIng: 12 GB
Cyberpunk 2077: 8 GB
Call of Duty: Warzone: 8 GB
Red Dead Redemption 2: 8 GB
Lost Ark: 8 GB
Watch Dogs Legion: 8 GB
MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries: 8 GB
Apex Legends: 6 GB
Destiny 2: 6 GB
Warframe: 4 GB
In this article[graphicscardhub.com] asking how much you need for gaming in 2023 we read...
Gentlemen, I agree that 16 GB is fairly normal for gaming computers these days. But OP's statement was not about the PC. It was about the game's minimum requirements. Now it's true that very recently (Forspoken, Dead Space...), 16 GB has become a more common minimum, but the history tells the story.
However prevalent it's soon to become, t's quite the fact that 16 GB minimums are not, at present, the norm.
Of course, and mine is bigger than yours.
