So what?
It's still underage and illegal in most countries. A video game CANNOT portray anything serious (romance-wise) when showcasing underage students. It's against the law.
Whether or not you have no problem playing a 15 year old having a romance, that romance can only be portrayed so far before it becomes illegal.
It is better to not push the boundaries when the law can get involved. I wouldn't expect anything beyond kissing if there is romance in the game.
The pedophile bat was already swung in this thread.
Please have a thought about this post:
Except of that weird "We hate you Ron and love each other"-scene in the first part of Deathly Hollows were there any explicit sex scenes in the movies?
Aside.... Even that wasn't an "explicit" sex scene.
Possibly only awkward for Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe on the closed set, where they filmed it.
I am not sure what "romance" means to you, but porn does normally not include it.
And sorry, but I am a bit worried if
does equal showcasing explicit sexual activities between teens.
Similar as in the movies, you'll play a teen character who is able to have a teen romance.
Let's just hope we'll avoid the Lavender Brown type, as Ron himself didn't know what hit him there.

Even though I still felt sorry for her being killed in the second part of Deathly Hollows at the great battle at Hogwarts. :(
Did you know that romance doesn't need to be 18+ stuff, a lot of film does portrait romance in a childish way wich is good for all ages, if they do add romance, i think it will not go further than dates and a kisses at maximum, nothing illegal in most Western countries
I think it's wierd to think about 18+ stuff first when it's a game about underaged Students
You do realize I took that into account, and made it clear that I think the studio will play it safe, especially with 15 year olds.
Just because romance can go beyond kissing doesn't mean it will and I simply think that the developers will play it safe rather than push the boundaries to see what they can get away with with a rated T game.
I actually enjoy more innocent and pure romances that can be experienced in video games. Heck, likely due to graphical limitations, but Bastila's romance had a fade-to-black screen for a kiss in KOTOR, but it worked incredibly well because the writing was great. Jade Empire had kissing then fade to black followed by a dream sequence showing our Spirit Monk in his/her tent by themselves. Romance in video games has by and large been innocent until the Witcher games, then got more and more M rated as other developers followed CDProject Red's example.
I do get confused when I say a game set in the 1800s with 15 year characters in a Rated T game to not expect anything more than kissing if the developers choose to add it in causes people to go "haven't you been in a high school" or "you know teenagers get up to a lot more than kissing, right" and so on.
It feels like even suggesting that romantic relationships can and likely will be innocent and pure is something that repels people like Dracula and a cross.
Well... When it comes to graphical limitations.
You are referencing a game that came out in 2003 (KoTOR) and one that got released 2007 (Jade Empire).
I only played KoTOR and really loved it, BUT the animations were clunky.
And as both games were from BioWare.... Even the Mass Effect animations are clunky.
But there you have no fade-to-black screen. XD
So I don't think that it's necessary for a 2022 game that almost looks photo-realistic and appears to have good animations (at least when it comes to the trailer which may not represent the end product), to fade to black for an innocent kiss.
Furthermore do NOT forget that you play a teenie yourself.
Maybe you want to bring yourself into the game and are older, but that's rather something for a game where you play an older char then.
Here it's rather like becoming a patron of a Hogwarts student guiding him / her through the game.
If you are young enough to play yourself as a student of Hogwarts good for you.
But even in that case I doubt that some smoochies from a NPC will hurt you.
She never got the chance to grow into a woman, which is the reason of why I am so sad about her death in Deathly Hollows part 2.
While she couldn't get happy with Ron, she surely would have been able to get happy with another wizard. As I think she had a caring and loving personality, even though a bit over the top if I put your words a bit around. ^^
She would have learned, but never got the chance to. :(
Aside of Dobby, Fred, Remus and Tonks I either think about her.
Even worse, she got eaten by Fenrir Greyback.
Hermine rightfully destroyed that damn werewolf!
I think you are seriously misunderstanding what I'm saying.
My apologies for the misunderstanding.
