"In the world of video games, especially massively multiplayer online games, lasting a decade is unheard of." - From your egotistical article...
Unheard of? Really? Ever hear of Lord Of The Rings Online? Been going for 15 years now. How about World Of Warcraft? 18 years so far for that one. Ever Quest, ever heard of it? Yeah, 23 years now. How about Ever Quest 2? 18 years so far. The only one you've beat is Star Wars The Old Republic, and that is only by 1 year. It's been going for 11 years now.
But yeah, lasting a decade is so "unheard of".
I play ALL of the above, and yes, I play Star Trek Online as well, but get over yourself. In the grand scheme of things, you're AVERAGE at best.
Just a PR statement, the person your replying to is right. Gamers are pretty miserable subgroup of people and it shows across multiple games I follow. Typically self entitled, quick to fly off the handle and love rabble rousing over next to nothing.
So what, other games been around for 10 years...like take a chill pill, sip of water, and move on, don't need to ruin some poor community manager's day with out flowing of miserable statements cause...someone else wrote some copy for this patch update? Just doing their miserable day jobs most likely lol geeez, ya sure showed those poor bsatards xD Point being, people you actually have problem with in these companies, aint here, but are real people have to sit through this ♥♥♥♥ as apart of the industry.
Not saying you're that bad cos said "trueish" but also wrote alot to go out of the way to defend it as if gamers need some form of special protection from bad video game companies.
Called being disenfranchised, were not first generation to go through this lol move on, and grow up.
I think you're missing the point of the responses.
In my opinion, no one really sounds like they are "offended" at "being lied to by big companies". You don't have to be "offended" to call someone out on their bullsh1t.
The person who wrote the copy is representing that company. And THEY made the choice to insert a complete lie in an attempt to portray the company as something it is not. So people are calling them out on it. If you chose to play the game, you better understand the rules before you begin.
Speaking for myself only, I am a direct person. If you lie, I'm going to call you a liar. If you steal, I'll call you a thief. It doesn't mean I "hate" you, or I am "offended" by you. It simply means I believe that, if you don't want to be called one, don't act like one. That's MY "truth in advertising". I'm not going to sugar coat a turd and tell you is a chocolate cookie.
This is the only new Trek content we can get without the stink of Kurtzman on it or watching a stupid memberberry cartoon or Teen Titans Go Trek cartoon.
The devs know this and that's why that garbage came/went and now takes a back seat to a Voyager/DS9 setting and cameos.
And Killy/Tilly is funny and easier to take in the missions if you just pretend she's supposed to represent a mentally disabled person.
I'm just glad TMP got some love in the update.
Progressing felt locked to predetermined builds listed in wikis that MUST be followed. I can see that being the case with PvP but solo story missions? I felt I had no say in how I wanted my ship to be. Became so disillusioned that I walked away 3 years ago.
It's been a little over a year since I last booted the game up and only played it for a few hours to see nothings really changed. I'm assuming this is still the case.
*Wow, EQ, EQ2, Lotro and more have joined the chat.*
But you are not afforded the right of making that statement. You are a good game, but you are outclassed by a wide plethora of MMOs that have been around since before you were a thought in your father's nutsack. We may be very angry at Blizzard right now, but WoW represents a grandfather that you respect to this day. Guild Wars, LOTRO, SWTOR, there are many names in the business that have been around for north of decade, some well north, who have done amazingly well. Games that set a standard that others aspire to reach and then improve upon.
You are a good game, STO... but sit down. You are in no position to display such arrogance.
I shall have to find some time to give STO a play again in future, it has been a good while.
