Is the gold membership worth it
Would it be worth one day investing in a few months of membership.

Take a look here;

In my opinion Gold membership isn't really worth the investment (unless you pay for Lifetime), you'd be better off buying what you want off the in-game C-Store.

I got the gold for a few reasons, will probably be doing the lifetime next month, I just wanted the extras that come with the gold for now, but that is just me.

I subed for 758 days then went lifer when they had it on sale for $199.00. I have a F2P acct. as well. Lifer is much more fun, alot more inventory, All of the respecs. Free Android BOFF. You can claim as many zen store EV suits as you want. The Veteran Ship is not bad.

thing is with lifer is it's so expensive

I got my lifer account and i have to say its worth it. Its pays itself off as long as the servers stay up for another 4 years for me.

Thats alot of money in the hopes a game will stay up for 4 years, and considering it already had to go free to play.

Dont get a lifer to hope. Get it to have the perks of being a lifer. Having the 500 a month zen stipen from the lifer membership pay for its self in 4 years is just an added bonus. Thats if you were going to spend that amount on zen to begin with. I most likely would have, it works out in the end for me.

-Edit- As for how long the servers will be up? Time will tell. As of now, its looks like they will be up for a good deal of time, new content is always being added, updates and patches are always being done, and the dev team is very active on these things.

Lets not forgot they did hire micheal dorn who played Worf in STNG, to do some voice over work. To me, in my opinion, that shows a certain level of commitment the devs have towards this game, not only for the players but for the long run of this game.

They also have Tim Russ revising the Role of Tuvok now as well for teh 4th anniversary and season 9 content, Expansion planned for later this year.

As for gold being worth it. If you aren't doing a Life Sub and just looking at the monthly It is only worth while if you are leveling so that you get the Free respec token each level other wise all I would do is get all my characters to 40+ and then sub for 1 month for teh extra perks. Can do teh Promotion missions unto to and including 40 so that you get the free ship tokens but save the level 45 and 50 Promotion missions for when you are ready on all your current toons to sub then cancel shortly after. That way you get 2 free respectokens per toon, The 20 Shared Bank Storage slots, 30 more Inventory slots, 60 more Bank slots, 5 more BOff slots, and use the 500 Zen stippend to unlock the 10 mill EC limit to the 2 billion or what ever it is that a subscriber has. You keep all the access after you drop back to silver that way. (If you don't do the EC unlock it will be the only thing you lose when you cancel)

So how long do the servers of this game expect to be up as MMOS do shutdown eventually
wondering of the longevity of the game for a lifer
FirestormMk3 Jan 25, 2014 @ 7:59pm
Always depends on the MMO. Look how long a game like WoW had been out, yet APB didn't last 6 months. I bought a lifetime about a year after the game had come out, which was before it went F2P. I was glad to see that I would at least get some extra perks, and I've gotten a lot of free currency to spend. I would generally say that subbing now only really makes sense as a lifetime or for one month to power-level one or two chars and get the extra bonuses on those ones.
Mr. Fibble Jan 25, 2014 @ 9:17pm
Captains yacht is a nice looking small ship for the fed side, not quite so keen on the look of the klink/rom variation. There is a 1000 day ship reward for subbing that long although I've not bothered taking it out for a spin yet so cant really say if it's a rewarding ship, although being for a longterm sub that might be totally irrelevant.

Despite JJ Abrams best (worst) efforts the star trek franchise doesnt seem to be losing any popularity so the longevity of the game is down to the devs putting out content which they do seem to be doing more of since it went f2p. And as others have said they are using more people than just leonard nimoy to voice stuff.

As a lifetime sub holder the only gripe I have is they dont always add the stipend which is annoying if you're trying to build up points for a new ship or whatever.
Gon Jan 26, 2014 @ 8:22am
To me, it looks like the only sensible options are to go for a single month for the unlocks (Inventory, bank, account bank), or go full lifetime. Its not worth subbing for multiple months.

Nevermind how long WoW has been up. Look at Everquest 1 & 2 that WoW copied from, been up for 18 years (now in 2017), 5 years longer than wow.

- Not necro if still relevant -

N3mes1s, you do realize this post was a necro, right? Anyone above the post above you has either forgotten about it or already done what they mentioned doing in this thread (Hence no point in telling people not to sub cause they probably already have).

I never check if it is a necro. I assumed it wasnt, because someone BEFORE me already answered.

Its not my fault that these forums dont have a feature, LIKE ANY OTHER DECENT ONE, to close old posts.

Or you could of just looked at the timp stamp like most do. "Jan 21, 2014 @ 5:41am" lol.
