what faction would you like to see

perhaps they need a new design way, if i was planning this game out i would of gave it the full trek experience...for instance, you start off in the era of johnathan archer, battling the zindi, klingons, and that probe weapon that actually done a ♥♥♥♥ load of damage to earth, perhaps the vulcan's, andorian's terrorite's, so on so forth, then to TOS, through the films, then then to next generation not actually picard, but a smaller ship that you can work up, perhaps a couple of task forces to tackle the romulans so on so forth, then to deep space nine fighting the dominion, which they have covered upto a point, but they could have done it a hell of a lot differently, the to voyager, then perhaps to where it is now..and perhaps the ground warfare i would of done more like a FPS..it would of been awesome..
perhaps its just me being a pureist but that would of been a lot better than what it is now..

Yep... They're not a real 'faction', just a small splinter group opposed to allying with the Federation and dreaming of past Cardassian conquests...

Well from what I have been seeing. I see the Voth could be added as a playable race. May. I highly doubt it could happen. Though there is some evidence there to prove some truth to have some idea it may happen.

If they did another, the most likely would be either The Cardassian Union or the Xindi. With the Xindi, every variation of them has their own style ships, both large and small, so they'd have lots to choose from and none of it is playable right now. If they did the Cardassians, they would likely have an "updated" form of the Galor cruiser with the same stats, but with different weapon types and no ability to get spiral disruptors, plus a slightly altered design to set the lock box ships apart.

The Xindi cell ship is playable. Although it counts as a tier I freighter kind of ship.
Also Cardassians would have to have spiral disruptors, as those are their canon weapons, even all the Cardassian NPCs use them.

That is the Sulibon cell ship. Not the Xindi lol. But yes, its a ship from the Enterprise tv show

Its been forever since I watched Enterprise and didn't get past season 2. I didn't to get to know the Xindi all that well until I read about them later.

Now that my confusion is lifted, yes the Xindi could be a good faction. Certainly would have a decent appeal with their very varied species and ships. Gut tells me that the Aquatic ship could make a nice science vessel or cruiser.

Well the Dominion have returned ingame as an enemy NPC faction. Would be fun to see them as playable.
But Cryptic didn't make the Romulans a full faction of thier own. Since they didn't see enough players as wanting to play a 3rd faction, based on the fact there are so few that play the KDF faction.
So it kinda feels like the Dominion would also turn into a minifaction, even if they are surpose to be a major power of thier Quadrant, unlike the current Romulans who are only a fraction of thier former empire.

Cardassians as a faction would be a mini faction. And could easy fit into joining either Fed or KDF like the Romulans, since they don't seem like a mega power anymore.

The Borg as a faction seems a bit silly. They would have to be entirely hostile to everyone else.
Unless its a renegade or liberated faction of the borg.. which seems a bit unlikely.
That said, they could still be fun to play and have thier ships.. and possibley borgfied versions of other races ships.

An entirely unknown/unheard of alien faction, or an alien faction from the extended (books/novels) universe? Would open up for a wide selection of alien ships and designs. But might suffer from a lack of interest by players for not being entire canon to Star Trek.
And would also present new problems with "is this star trek enough?".


All that said... What STO should do first, is allow more crossfaction stuff.
I love playing my KDF sided character, I love the gear, the ships. even the costumes.
But most of my friends really only play Federation sided characters, so our KDF Fleet feels kinda dead, while our FED fleet is well alive. And I shouldn't have to look for a new group to play KDF with.
Cryptic/PWE have shown with the romulans they can setup the option to pick faction. And I wouldn't have a problem having my KDF characters switch over into a federation fleet as long as they keep thier gear and option to pick thier own ships, just like Romulans does with thier ships.

But seriously, I think they were on to reintroducing the Iconians before they announced the Romulan faction, but gave up for some reason. Or maybe just delayed. Their Obex Dreadnought appeared in “The Return” when it destroyed a bunch of Borg vessels in the Burgus system, then left with the message "Look upon us and tremble."

Hmm.... maybe that's why Romulus exploded, to make room for another faction. Iconia was located near Romulus in the Iota Pavonis block.

How about the Xindi? They have shown multiple races and we have seen multiple ships in the whole of Season 3 of Enterprise. Plus, Cryptic has yet to add the Necrid expanse to the game. I think it would be great.

I could see them as playable.. However the insectoid aliens might be a problem. Unless the devs are finally gonna get over the -all players have to be humanoid- mode they got going.
And don't recall seeing anyone on the offcial forums suggesting them as a playable faction. ^_^

Well we have Xindi duty officers (albeit extremely rare ones). So at least there would be images for DOFFs for them already done :)
