Star Trek Online

Just downloaded - Stuck on Cryptic Load
My Cryptic bar doesn't progress and it just hangs until I eventually have to kill it out of Task Manager for Not Responding. I've tried Safe Mode. I don't think it's an issue with my system. I run Secret World just fine.

Any ideas?

Ugh! This is the worst. I've been watching all the Star Trek series on Netflix and I just finished Voyager. I want to play soooo bad! I don't have any of the applications installed that are known to cause issues with STO. Firewall is fine.

I have Win 7 Pro. x64
EVGA X58 SLI3 MB
Intel Core i7-950 Processor
12 GB of RAM
An SSD III drive for my OS
A SATA III drive for my games and data
I run dual NVIDA video cards, one specifically assigned for PhysX (GTX 260) and the other for everything else (GTX 470).

I wonder if it's the video card configuration? I mean I don't have a super high end gaming system, but it is by no means a garbage system that should have any issues running this game.

GRRRR!!!!

I had a similar problem when I first started. I had to uninstall and delete the Star Trek folder and re-install.
Apparently, my internet had dropped out for a moment during the first install and I had a corrupted file.
Uninstalling and reinstalling didn't work alone. Had to delete the folder, too.

Don't know if that'll work for you, but that's what finally got mine up and running.

Yep I did that, too. I even tried using the ARC launcher instead, thinking that maybe it was an issue with Steam. I'll give it one more go though with uninstalling and deleting the folder - it can't hurt!

This worked for me:

1) I uninstalled the game and deleted the ST:O folder from steam/common
2) I reinstalled ST:O
3) I started the game and at the login screen, I selected Safe Mode & Force Verify in the options
4) I reset my graphics configuration to the way that I like

Personally, I think the first two steps were unnecessary, but if you've got a decent connection, it's not a lot to go through. In any event, the game re-launches perfectly for me now.

had the same loading screen issue after finally managing to get around to patching, so I turned on force verify and then launched the game. it launches without a hitch now seemingly.

Do note I've had the game downloaded for a while so...dunno if just that works for others

So I've done 1-4 once already; but I am currently giving it one last try right now.

I want to thank everyone. I don't know if a patch was issued that fix my problem, or it was all the great advice, but I am finally in.

Now that I have the game going and I am a sweet Betazoid Science Cadet (plan on making a healer), should I purchase any of the player packs or expansions?

At the Cryptic load page 2 things happen - firstly the game tries to connect to the game servers at the beginning of the bar so at this point faiure to advane suggests you have a firewall blocking issue going on. After tht as the bar starts to progress some firewalls start to look at the game taking control of the mouse and keyboard - at this point antivirus software can kick in to ask if this is okay or not. So basically on stuck screens check your security alerts in your antivirus/firewall software.

I had this problem with the steam version but I download it from the Perfect world site with np.

same thing. clean install. windows 7.

it goes from cryptic load screen, to ST romulus title load screen, to cool startrek theme, infinitley, just black screen with a white cursor.

have to alt tab to desktop to force it to stop; otherwise it'll just keep playing music & black screen.

sounds like i should just delete all local files & try DL it from the cryptic site.

should i then use steam to launch it, or direct from the .exe file?

wonder if my video card isnt good enough, which i wouldnt at all doubt.

"(STO) Endless loading screen

I am stuck in a never ending loading screen, how do I fix this?
Please make sure your are running the latest drivers for your video card and start the game using the Video Safe mode option. You will need to check with your video card manufacture for information on latest DRIVERS and how to INSTALL them.

To run the game in Video Safe Mode:

Start the game client
Before you enter your username and password, click the Options button
Check the Safe Mode option
Log in and run the game again
Once you are able to load into the zone that you were previously getting stuck loading into, please adjust your video settings back to normal and turn down the World Texture Quality and the World Detail Distance settings."
