Killing a Borg Cube in three?
Someone bragged on Chat (I don't chat, just read in the offhand case someone might actually offer help) that they can kill a Borg Cube in Three. I just came out of the Kerrat Mission after being exploded several times trying to chase and scan the little *&^%s. So, if someone has the right ship class and build equiptment to kill a Cube in three can you explain how to set it up?

Any endgame ship can kill a cube on his own, provided you know what you are doing. If by "in three" that player meant 3 seconds, thats nonsense and impossible.

if you mean kill a borg cube in 3 minutes then of course thats easily done , all three types of ships have there own way of doing it , sci ships can pull down their shields whammy them with photonic fleet and other voodoo powers and the cube wont last long , engi ships can just slug it out , and a good built tac ship can take it down quickest of all

I guess, by counting slowly to three would count as; killing a borg cube in three... :)

I just had my first Fleet Action in which 14 of us swarmed a herd of cubes. Pop. Pop. Pop. Popping...

Borg Cubes are unconscious and therefore not capable of living in herdes.

well, in 3 seconds maybe not but i can very well destroy a borg cube (like in the STF infected : conduct elite) in 30 seconds or less, easy as a pie. And i'm not all very well stuffed as yet so if you get every good stuff in the right places, you could, i suppose shorten it even more but to 3sec, i don't think so ... maybe something like 10 or 15 seconds.

Its possible at about 10 seconds, for a level 50 player using an escort to take down a cube. Ive seen it only once happen, an thought it was a hack of some sorts. Turns out it was legit.

Me and a few other players in my fleet added the buffs, debuffs, the type of weapons needed and the class of player with an escort, in 10-15 seconds you can lay enough fire power down on one brog ship facing, to destory it quickly.

But for 3 seconds sounds like someone was B.S'ing.

-Edit- I forgot alot of thinhgs that factor in to this. lol

-Weapon type/Energy type- At level 50, using purple type weapons, and depending on the type of weapon used and its energy base type, you can have some pretty powerful weapons. Not to mention fleet type weapons of the same kind, which are even more powerful. Every weapon has different configurations to the same type as well. Some give better accuracy, critical chance, or cirtical serverity type boosts. It can be one boost type at a high amount, or it could be multiple at decent amounts.

-Ship type- With the Adorian Kumari Escort ship, you have 5 fore weapon slots with 5 tactical slots. Problemly the most powerful escort ship in the game. You also have fleet type ships that are not the same setup but are powerful to say the least.

-Ship consoles- With the ship mentioned above, you have 5 tatical console slots. Like before, depending on your weapon types, you can give on heck of a bonus to the base damage. Either on the weapon type or the energy type of weapon. Take anti-proton, you can get a console device that boost that type of damage up 26.2%, times that by 5 and your looking at 131% boost to your weapon damage.

-Player skills/traits/level- This should go without saying. You can boost amount, chance and serverity type damages, and also player buffs and debuffs. Also access to more powerfull weapons, ships, items and so on. most notable are the MK XII level item's, as of now, as far as i know, are the highest level items around.

For the buffs right now i have two buffs that give great bonuses to damage, both base and and critical, as well as chance. They are, Attack Pattern Alpha III and Tatical Fleet II. Used together, i get a 79.6% damage bonus, 5% critical chance, and 49.9% critical serverity.

-Reputation bonuses- As of now, you have 4 factions in which you can gain Rep with. Each one has 5 tiers max to be had. Each tier gives you an option of having a passive space or ground combat trait. Not only that but you have access to new types of ship items, that can also play into the damage factor.

So yeah, 3 seconds....I wouldent say yes or no to it with out at least testing it out myself first. Which would take some time.

well you take any tactical ship with enough fore and aft (should be 8 in total), the right equipments (fleet cannons or elachi cannons with lobi store elachi set), 4 or 5 tactical slots with increased element (that you are using) 's damage and i'm sure you could even lower it a lil bit around 8 sec but getting all those stuff would cost you or talk forever to get but it's possible.

If your talking about trying to go for a three second kill then...

Not really, depending on how you press the attack on a borg cube and the type of cannon's you're going to use. Dual cannons, both heavy and standard have the best fire power, but only the smallest targeting arc which is just 45'. Single cannons do give 180' arc, but lack in power alot, so much so it could be said turrents are better then single cannons with the 360' arc they have.

Even so you still would only be able to fire 50% of your weapon base at any given time. Making the turn to get your aft weapons lined up to fire would add to much time. Even if you were to move towards the cube, fire, then go up and over to avoid making a turn it would still tac on a second or more.

Not to mention a tactical crusier does not have the turning or the speed to do that at base level. With Evasive III buff you might be able to do it in the 7 second window.

No, you would have to go for a full frontal attack everything you have in one shot. So you would need to have a ship with 5 fore weapons, to get the max with heavy dual cannons.

Any smart Scimitar user can exceed 30% crit chance and 200% crit sev. which will nail down any possible Tac Cube in seconds with a massive amount of DPS using DEM+APB. Plus universal consoles of some sort. I don't mind it can solo an ISE in a few minutes.

Since I made the posting, I have the Connie now. Level 4 consoles and weapons of rare and uncommon found on the exchange makes for a tough connie. I am always improving on it. But a cube kill is a holy grail that I am seeking.

I wanna kill some borg!! I'm too new though :(
x1Heavy Jan 15, 2014 @ 10:40pm
Don't worry for being too new. I am new too and don't know any better when I charge off into the Borg knowing I wont survive. Which is why I started this thread. It generated very good thinking, comments and hints we can learn from. I only had two fleet actions, one with 14 ships which trashed a bunch of cubes and one with just me and another Connie together, we did well together. I made sure to stay wingman to him and support his attacks. I discovered the differences between my uncommon and rare consoles versus his regular consoles when I had to do |S| flight path to stay where I wanted to stay because his was the slower ship. I had a combat level 4 impulse engine which was really good and strong. I am about to become a founder of a fleet known as the "Connies Group" which may or may never get anywhere.
