I'm having the same issue, I got funds in my steam wallet, but everytime I click to buy on the Zen store, a pop up window with a selector for steam wallet as mode of payment but when I click on it another dialog box comes up and says "are you sure you want to buy zen with ?" and I click on the yes button and nothing happens???

This is due to the new fraud "protections" Cryptic has put in place. Unless you purchase zen through their own service, they consider any other way fraud. And the response I got from their so-called "customer service" was that it will always be that way too bad so sad.

This is NOT related to the new Probation system (information on that here: http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1286371 ).

Are you still experiencing this issue? I note that the original post was on 11/16.

Yes, I'm still experiencing this issue, I have funds in my steam wallet, and I can get more if the issue is my current steam funds are not sufficient (but it doesn't say that during the option to buy Zen), but nothing happens when I click ok when the dialog box comes up that says "do you want to purchase zen with ?" what does the question mark "?" mean? please note that steam seems to have transitioned to displaying funds using local currency, I currently have $100.00 on my steam account before they transitioned to displaying it into regional currency (I'm from asia btw) does that "?" mean that it cannot distiguish/recognize the currency in my steam wallet?

I REALLY like this game and briefly considered getting more funds in my steam wallet to go SUB, but with me unable to purchase anything on the zen store using steam (my ONLY preference since I prefer NOT to expose my credit cards through online transactions) any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated, a lot of people have even told me I shouldn't bother as the game has a lot of problems, but I still want to get Zen to buy stuff in the store for myself as I really enjoy playing the game. help please, thanks!

What country are you from? Some countries have only recently been opened up for their local currency on Steam. When that happens, it can take some time for the currency to be supported by the actual games. The developers have been able to already open up some currencies but others are still being worked on. Unfortunately, it will be a week or two at least to get additional currency support for some of the countries Steam has already converted. Otherwise, the only other option is buying Zen through the Arcgames.com site. There are many different secure payment options offered.

Had the same problem before...it seems to be a timed problem. Sometimes I waited a couple of hours, then it worked for me.

thanks for the replies, been searching the internet for a solution to this issue as I really enjoy playing this game, but I would rather use steam than expose my credit cards to online transactions, I suspect that the transition made by steam to local/regional currency could be the culprit, I even checked the overlay functions that seems to have been the issue for some concerning my current predicament (yes, I have the steam overlay for the game checked) of being unable to use steam funds to purchase Zen.

Its just too bad that this is actually the first MMO that I had considered spending real money on and the irony is it won't allow me to do so :) I do hope the developers allow the purchase thru steam but with the setting up of their own "Arc" overlay, I'm guessing getting the link fixed for people like me who use steam to do online purchase will not be high on their to do list.

I actually even accept that my purchases on steam be account bound since I'm doing purchases for myself and not really thinking of reselling what ever I get in the exchange. I really hope they get it fixed, flying my t4 starship is really getting old at this point :)

Arc selection for the Zen are also completely different to Steam's. . . just wanna get the 23.99 in steam's 'buy Zen', currently 3k with + 15%.... Arc doesn't have that price bracket 15.99 then 40. . . O.o

I have the same problem; yesterday als well as today. It's not the first time I bought Zen with the Steam Wallet, so that puzzles me even more.

I'm a little annoyed with steam with them converting the steam wallet dollars to regional currency, its like region locking a game that requires $ funds, I'm using steam wallet to get games and not use my CC for online game transactions and to not be able to utilize the funds in it because of the conversion is really @#! me off pardon the random key type, I'd really like to get Zen for STO, but it just wont recognize the funds in my steam wallet. PLEASE FIX IT.

It isnt just STO/Arc/Perfect World. Most of the game that have their own premium currencies are having this same problem since Steam is making the currency changes.

I haven't specifically looked or read anything about it, but I would gather they are under some heat to change their system. As it stands, your Steam wallet is potentially a tax evasion mechanism - it's own currency of sorts. I'm assuming you aren't in the US... do you get hit with VAT when you add funds to Steam? Since you're not techincally purchasing something I'm not sure they could.

I'd blame the countries with aggressive/abusive sales tax policies rather than Steam.

Unfortunately, most of these game companies don't do much more than add a hook into their account system to process Steam payments and never look at it again. They just want to be listed on Steam, end of story. Just look how most of them rarely, if ever look at the Steam forums or even post news updates.

yes, I'm from asia and when I purchase steam funds from my local store its usually a dollar value and I pay it with my region's currency, when I loaded it to steam I get the equivalent dollar value, I usually get a receipt for it and it does indicate that its charged with VAT.

and nothings really changed, I still purchase steam codes from my local game store in dollars paying for it in my region's currency, the difference is that now what is posted in my steam account is my regions currency not the dollar value I paid for.

up till now I find the steam service to be very efficient and the safest way to purchase games, I usually prefer the retail box, if gog had the same kind of service that steam provides where I can just purchase codes from my favorite retail game store I'd probably be using that service. but its only with this change that steam has made my ability to purchase games restrictive, like region locking games that require dollar value equivalent effectivly locking me out because my steam wallet is using a different currency.

so if steam people are around, please return back to what works, if it aint broke, don't fix it.

unless of course STO is no longer supporting purchases using steam?

also, do I still need to do the link thing? I've read somewhere that I have to link my steam and PWE account, how do I do that? I already have the steam overlay active in-game.

https://billing.perfectworld.com/steam/login/ --- doesn't do anything I can attest to. It does register if the password is wrong, but either it's broken or I already did it a couple years ago.

I can say that I tried buying some Zen from my Steam Wallet as a test and it went through fine for me. Start to finish about 30 seconds.

I am also having a problem with buying ZEN with my steam wallet, it just never seems to process...
