Star Trek Online & Neverwinter

Hi to all

So i've just made my Perfect World account so that i can try Star Trek Online. I'm also wanting to try Neverwinter sometime in the future.
I've noticed that the STO launcher has a section called Shard with a pop-up menu that has Champions Online-Live, Neverwinter-Neverwinter, Neverwinter-RU, Star Trek Online-Holodeck. At the moment i'm getting the first 10GB patch. Anyway here are my questions.

1. Can i click the Cancel button without losing the data that i've already downloaded, & resume the patch download again later ?

2. When i do decide to try Neverwinter, will i be able to use the same Perfect World account & password, or will i need a new account for all of the different games mentioned above ?

3a. In the Options Menu, under the Patching heading, what does Force Verify mean ?
3b. In the Options Menu, under the Game heading, what does Gameplay Proxy mean ?

my neverwinter and sto password is the same as is my account adress i believe.

1. No idea.

2. As said above, yes, you should be able to use the same account.

3a. "Force Verify" means that the launcher will do a scan of all your game files and make sure they match the ones on the server. It's used to check if any of your files are missing or broken. It serves the same sort of function as "verify integrity of game cache" on Steam. Keep in mind that using Steam's verify function on games with their own patcher will generally cause you to download the entire game again (due to a mismatch with the files on the Steam server), so make sure to use the launcher's service if you think some of your files may be missing or corrupt.

3b. I don't know. It sounds like it might be used to change the way your packets are routing in the event of a connection issue with your area and/or ISP, but that's just a guess based on the name.

@Lt.Colonel Johnny Frost: thanks very much for ur answer. It's good to hear that i won't need a new PW account. Did u download STO & Neverwinter through Steam ?

@Lavian: thanks heaps for ur answers. I'm very glad u answered 3a. because i usually do use the "Verify Integrity" function after a game has finished downloading, just to make sure it's all good, & i didn't know that it'd be different to the Launchers files. So thanks for the info

The shard holodeck is the test server for STO. Tribble i believe is the main server. The test servers for most mmos usually have soon to be released content for testing. However, characters/accounts on test servers are usually wiped on a regular basis. You should play on the main server unless you want to try out some new content etc.

Dont worry about 3b unless you use a proxy server to connect to the internet. If you do, then enter the proxy server info in that option menu box if STO doesn't work.

Shard: Holodeck is the only shard for Star Trek Online from the start

@Lerch2000: thanks for the info about Shards. I'm not really sure if i'll ever try the Tribble Test Server, i need to try the normal servers 1st. Also good to learn i'm not missing any shards on my list, i've seen a few different shards mentioned but i think i'll just stick to the default Holodeck one.
