How to get Energy Credits Fast and Effective
Well, I recently encountered a mission that involves me spending about 20,000 energy credits gathering supplies, with no reembursment, which put into light that I have literally 0 no efficient way of gathering energy credits, other than selling crap I salvaged from blown up ships. If anyone has a personal way of gathering these nasty things fast and easy please share em for the newbies :D

This is the mission on DS9 where you need to buy a bunch of self sealing stem bolts I bet?

If you want to just sell stuff from ships you blow up try doing one of the "farm" missions from the foundry on a harder setting. Or if youve no interst in crafting sell the particle traces youve picked up along the way.
It's simple..

Buy keys off the ZEN store and re-sell them..

You'll get 2.2 mil per key.

Depends if he wants to pay real money. I bought Zen once and bought 20 (2x10) keys and made 44m. Not bad if u wanna make some quick upgrades without the grind.

Bad move. Why would you use a method that implies to waste ZEN when you can farm contraband and waste NOTHING?. I mean, you can always trade dilithium to increase your zen ammount and buy keys to that purpose.. but, the whole point is to get energy credits without losing anything. The ZEN must be saved at all costs if you can.

It's time versus money, and this is exactly what the Free-to-play model is designed around.
Or be rich, and buy zen > keys.

That's my way.
Buying Zen is very affordable especially if u have a job. 2200 Zen costs me £14.50 / $21.22 which is nothing to me. So it's no big deal.
Hang on, first, how do you do contraband missions? (Im Starfleet btw)

Klingons can do it a few times EVERY DAY (because they have doff assigments that gives em contraband, something starfleet doesnt).

While i agree that KDF gets contraband easily through raiding, Starfleet has also a way to get contraband. You get it from the "Confiscate Contraband From Crew" operations mission. Just go to your Operations Department and select the mission. On a Success you'll find contraband, but only 1-2 pieces, and the mission is on a 24 hour cool down. Meaning you get about enough to turn over the contraband every 3-4 days, if you are purely feds.

Where as KDF can just sit in Federation space and raid every freighter there is, and get 10+ contraband per day. You can supply your fed character with contraband while your KDF farms, and both the Fed and KDF will be able to turn the bounty into 2000 Dilithium per day.

Another good source for Dilithium is running the Battlezones. Just do a single mission per battle zone to get your daily marks. You get a bit Dilithium this way as well, and the marks can be turned into Dilithium as well. For some battle zones (Voth and Badlands) you also sometimes get the special item, which can be turned into 1000 Dilithium on itself. Takes about an hour to fly around and do a single mission everywhere, but you'll have your 8k Dilithium that way guaranteed. And you can do it solo, no need to bother with cues for missions or anything.

Also don't forget your daily story mission Dilithium bonus.

As the question was about Energy Credits, tho... i suggest Doff missions like Strike against the Fugitive Network, which gets you usually a rare Prisoner, which you can exchange, usually, near DS9 via Prisoner exchange into a blue or purple Doff. Selling those on the Market can get you some nice EC.

Doing Recruitment missions in your Academy, selling the white Doffs on the Exchange. They give you like 10k EC per Doff, people need them for their Fleet missions, so they'll always be bought. Occasionally you'll get a green or better Doff, which sells even better.

Running Engineering Doff assignments to create Warpcores, Shields, Engines or Deflector Shields.. (if you have enough doffs left, you might want to throw in a console research)... even if you are unlucky, selling those to an outfitter (just check if the NPC you are about to sell to gives you 50% of the item worth). You can make 30ish K EC that way, just from the junk.. and you have a chance to get a purple item, which might sell for quite a bit on the market.

Another way to make EC is checking the market for Warpcores, Shields, Engines and Deflectors. Sometimes people don't realize that they put up their goods below the amount of money the NPC will give them. Its possible to make 5-10k profit per piece that way. Just check the item value, if the Market price is below 50% of the item value, buy it, sell it to the NPC, you'll make the difference as profit. Just be mindful that different rarities have different base prices.

I've also made like a million last month by selling training manuals. I bought them from the NPC for 1000 or 2500 EC and sold them on the Market for like 50000 EC. Best money i made was buying a 1000 EC Tactical manual and sold it on the Exchange for like half a million alone. Unfortunately people started to catch onto that.. prices have fallen, but you can still make some profit. People are either lazy or unaware...

Another way to make EC... always check the exchange before selling anything. You can drag the item into the search bar on the Exchange and check what the exchange is willing to pay for the item. If its close to 50% of the item worth, don't bother selling it on the exchange.. most of the time you'll get at least item worth, meaning you can make 50% profit over selling it to an NPC.

For 1000 Dilithium you can run the R&D Assistance Doff Mission at your Academy. Those can contain the special Doffs you need for the level 15 crafting. A single doff of those, even white ones, go for 1 million and more. If you get a purple one... instant 40+ million.

Once you get access to the Admiralty system there are missions that can reward 200k EC.

Investing Dilithium into Upgrading items, and selling MK XIII+ items on the exchange can get 10 and more million EC per piece.

And then of course there are the usuals:

Dunno if they still exist, but there used to be farming Story Missions, where you basically just have space battles, with no story.. you go in there, defeat a bunch of waves of enemies. Sometimes with NPC help. Of course, i am not sure they still exist or if Cryptic removed them, but they used to be used as source for items.

Task forces also reward purple resources, which you need for crafting. You can either craft it yourself (a single piece of the aegis set goes for 3 to 3,5 million), or you can just sell the rare and very rare resources.

Buying Fleet Modules or Keys and selling those.

Exchange trading. Once you have a stockpile of EC, you can start checking the prices of the expensive stuff. Sometimes you'll see someone trying to sell something quick and they will put an item on the exchange for say 1 or 2 million, and the next in line costs 20 million. You can invest the money, buy the item.. and put it back up for 10 or 19 million. Of course in this last one... as always with stockmarkets you can get unlucky and 4 more people put their items up below yours.. and you can end up being stuck on the item. But in the long run, you'll make profit.

And if you are in for the long haul.. you can do Zen trading. The Dilithium for Zen price fluctuates between 225 and 275 throughout the year. If you buy Zen while its at 225 and sell Zen while its at 275.. you will make a profit. Since the Sale and buy offers don't seem to expire, like the Exchange offers do, you can simply put them up whenever, and once the prices are right, it will do everything for you. Of course, this is really the long game.. as you might not reap any benefit within month.

Some people suggest small time plays. Meaning selling it at market value and buying it 1 below market value. If you have 10000 Zen... doing that will yield 10000 Dilithium profit. Personally i don't like that, i am never certain i am making profit that way, and its to much book keeping.

Oh.. and if you are good at writing... create your own story mission. People sometimes tip dilithium for those.

Very simple, especially for new people..

Sell your Common Duty Officers on the exchange, they are needed for fleet projects. The "going rate" for most is around 30k. Always search before hand, some professions are more.

SO very true... I buy them buy they page at times for projects and for Fleet Credits.. the rate for spending Dil is 1 for 1 (rip off)... Common Duty Officers is is 300 per officer (much better deal) i buy the first page of whites then click another field and repeat and return for the higher priced ones up to 50k each... so for new, newbs, and noobs an easy 30k EC can be made quickly. or 40k if you wait a bit longer...
Ah yes, the master of everything chimes in - yet again.

If you read the OP, which of course you didn't, you would have seen this is a new person griping about having to lay out 20k EC on what was probably a DOFF assignment.

There are many ways of making good money in the game. Whatever it is that you will lower yourself to do, or deem worthy is not relevant to the discussion.

Common DOFFs are free and somewhat plentiful, especially if you go Romulan since they have access to two sets of the recruitment missions. It is very easy to build up a small nest egg in this manner AND it's also a good way of disposing of common DOFFs.

Yes, you could run DOFF assignments that result in contraband and then turn it in. However, to get a decent success rate in this takes some time getting decent DOFFs to do those missions. Most all of those missions are tagged High risk which is enough to run the risk of losing a DOFF permanently as well.
