Best Armament for a Galaxy Class, Tier 4: How to defeat an unbeatable ship
I've come up with a problem, I cant beat a d' deridix cruiser in a mission to save the ambassadors from a romulan ambush, but I cannot even get that thing under 50% hull strength, with multiple times getting destroyed. My current armament is 3 dual-firing tier 7 phasers and 1 dual-firing superphaser or whatever you call it in the front, and 1 tier 7 mine laying device, 1 superphaser single firing and 1 turret, and tier 7 shields, is there anything I can do to get better stuff or see if I can get a better armament, is there any missions I could do to raise 7 levels and get a tier 5 ship, or am I just stuck?

Yeah galaxies r slow. Rebuild it to a beam [array] boat. Get the best beams u can afford preferable antiproton. U want ur weapons constantly firing and in a low turn rate ship u dont want cannons or turrets, not even torps either tbh.

I've got a kdf neghvar and the turn rate is bad but ive turned it into a beam boat which compensates for its slow turning.

Single or Doublefire? Doublefires dont have the firing range of singlefire but more firepower, if I had singlefire than I would be firing constantly against faster ships but with not THAT much of a punch... Whattya think?

get the 250 degree weapons on a cruiser

max of those allows you to boardside all 8 weapons on your enemies and sinces its less influenced by your turn rate its easyer to keep the enemy in your field of fire compared to dual beams or even worse cannons

+ get beam fire at will skills + attack pattern beta if you can

Power distribution ->Offense. (If you don't have full power into weapons, you're not doing full damage with energy weapons.)

Stay more than 5km away from it. (D'deridex will lock a tractor beam on you and fire a salvo of heavy torpedos if you're within 5km.)

Shoot down any High Yield Plasma Torpedos it fires at you.

It's not exciting, but here is a guideline build for you that should help introduce the tools you'll need for cruiser play in STO:

full beams or one beam array less and add a torp (i'm using 7 Anti-Proton and one Quantum Torp in front, on my Ody Tac Cruiser)

I have a Star Cruiser, what i use is mainly double beams with two turrets, and a beam at the back with a quantum torp at front, and i always autofire the turrets,no matter what

Yea I have a soverign cruiser but im concidering saving up my dilithium and buying a bigass star cruiser and just going in and blowing ♥♥♥♥ up...

Try distributing shields to spacebar and movement keys since it will help keep shields up. Try to focus on part of the ship on a certain angle to focus on and keep your distance to at least close to 8-10k while beams and torpedo yield whenever possible but mainly use when shield are low whenever possible to increase damage output. Personally recommend using plasma all around. 250 degree beams is probably better for a crusier.
