Omni-Directional (360degree) Beams question
Hello all.

Is it possible to equip the Borg Cutting beam, the Ancient Obelisk Onmi beam, and a standard Omni beam?

It says you can't equip multiples of one item but each of these items r different tech. Can I equip them all together?

yes you can. I wasn't sure either, but I tried it and it worked!

Cool! I tried the Ancient and a standard and it worked. Just need a few more omega rep to get the cutting beam.

Do u think having the cutting beam, ancient Omni, and a standard Omni as AFT weapons will work well together? I made a mistake by outfitting my negh'var with all cannons and I never took the slow turn rate of battlecruisers into account lol.

I'm converting to all beams (beam boat) and I'm guessing having 360 degree beams at the back is the way to go? And all beam arrays at the front?

Omni in the back is one way to go if you can get all three of them. Typically for a beam build you would just run with all beam arrays and broadside.

As u probably know the negh'var has 4 AFT weapons so im planning on using the 3 omni-beams and a vaadwaur cluster torpedo.

Another thing also, I worried over the damage beam arrays do compared to DHCs. Currently I've got 4x AP DHCs mk XIIIs at the front and 2x omnis, 1x beam array, and 1x vaadwuar cluster at the back. When im broadsiding with my beams they do 'unsafisfying' damage but when I face my target the DHCs do all the damage, considerably!!

When I finally replace my DHCs with front beams im worried my ship won't cause enough damage compared to the DHCs. How can extract the most damage out of beams? My consoles are as follows:

Engineering:

Assimiliated module
Zero-point energy concuit console
Tetrburnium alloy (change?)
Ablative hull armor (change?)

Science:

Shield Refrequencer (change?)
Field Generator (change?)

Tactical:

3x AP Mag

I'm an engineer and only have 2 slots on my tactical station which is annoying. Don't tell me get Plasmonic Leech as I refuse to buy an entire ship just for a console lol. Keep it realistic. Any suggestions?

DHC's are the highest hitting weapon type in game, but due to narrow arc you always have to pointing toward enemy to use them (hence, they are typically used on high manouverability ships like escorts). Where as with beam arrays with 270 arc you are pretty much always able to be on target, so it is a more sustained form of damage. And coupled with fire-at-will you are able to do damage to multiple targets at the same time (fair warning: aggro magnet), which you cannot do with dhc's (other than with scatter volley, but even with that it is to targets in your narrow front arc). Beams are also more effective from further away (8km vs 5km for cannons for effective range).

So sustained damage vs. high burst damage. Both have their merits.

For a full beam build you will need a lot of weapon power, so have emergency power to weapons atleast, aux to battery will help too. Energy siphon on the science side if possible. If you are an engineer you will have your own space ability to help aswell.

Zero-point and Assimilated are ok, might want to switch the armor ones to Neutronium or fleet variant if available (damage resistance to all damage types).

Science don't matter much, if you are not doing exotic damage. Something shield enhancing which you have.

Tacs are ok, but (fleet) Vulnerability Locators are the way to go.

Thanks for the replies. In my fleet starbase I cannot find where to buy fleet ship items. Where r they? I've searched everywhere!

Sorry ive found them lol. tac consoles arent listed tho. only deflectors and shields

The Spire sells Tac consoles, if it's at a high enough level ofc.

(FYI you get Fleet science consoles at the Embassy and Fleet engineering consoles and warp cores at the Mine)
