Star Trek Online

What are attack patterns, and how do I use them?
I tryed looking at the wiki, because I was spending skill points, for the Starship Attack Patterns skills; I could not find anything of any use. How do I employ these patterns, or are they passive?

The wiki pages are very vague.

What game are you talking about? Star Trek Online?

^^^^

Pretty sure he's talking about Super Mario 2, Luigi was capable of putting the hurt on with those giant radishes. /sarcasm.

I imagine Iceman is talking about Star Trek Online, since you know, this is the Steam STO forum.

As for your question, Bobby Drake;

There are multiple Attack Patterns - coming in the Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omega varities. Attack Pattern Alpha being a Tactical Captain skill only, that buffs your turn rate, critic chance and hit rate, as well as a base increase in damage.

Attack Patterns Delta, Beta and Omega are tactical bridge officer abilities with uses ranging from resistence buffs, to resistence debuffs on your current target (all in space, mind you) And all of these skills are dependent on the Starship Attack Patterns captain skill. Higher the rank, more effective they are.

Tactical Captains can train their bridge officers in these skills, or you can go to your Factions appropriate dock and get training manuals from a vendor to teach them these skills.

Patterns are tactial officer abilities available to you (If you're Tactical - I think) and your Tactical Bridge Officers.

Edit: And it looks like you don't know how to search a wiki. Nothing vague about this search result.

Alpha - Raises damage, critical chance and severity as well as turn rate signifcantly for the duration, tactical captain power only.

Beta - Decreases damage resistance and stealth value of your target if you hit it while active. Very useful with AOE attacks like Beam: Fire at Will or Cannon: Scatter Volley.

Delta - Increases your own damage resistance. If an enemy shoots you, they get a damage resistance and stealth debuff. Essentially a defensive version of Beta. Great if your ship generates a lot of threat.

Omega - Raises damage, speed and turn rate and makes you immune against hold and slow effects. Great for getting out of tractor beams and starting counter attacks. You can create crazy high damage in combination with Alpha.

Akabeels description is much more helpful, I would actually suggest that he rewrite the page.

Much more so than the tiny description on this page: http://sto.gamepedia.com/Skill:_Starship_Attack_Patterns

Anyways, my question has been answered perfectly, wish this had a close button.
