Have not played in probably a decade. Worth starting in 2025?
So I have not played this game in many years. Is it worth giving it another try and if so is playable F2P or with a minimal investment?
Active fleets for new players to relearn the ropes?

I was in the same position as you about a week ago, i started playing again after many years away, was disappointed i couldn't remember my old login as I had a lot of nice ships and the ones from the spock event ages ago. So I made a new account, it's very active from what i can see, lots of people at hubs, fleets advertising and recruiting. The content is fun and there's lots to do! Loads of story mission, you don't really have to spend anything in the shop unless you want to, i've not done so yet, and earning dilithium for upgrades seems to be a lot easier now too. I'd recommend giving it another shot!
You can do all the story missions for free! You will need to upgrade your gear and make sure you consoles match your dmage type and role by the time you reach level 50 however so you don't get destroyed by Vaadwar from the difficulty spike the occurs then.
I've played the game off-and-on for years now and I still find it quite a lot of fun. If you are big on PvE it's still an excellent game.

I see you can get a coupon for a free t6 ship for the anniversary per one of the posts unless i missed that expiring already
Unfortunately it expired, so you'll need to do the event campaign if you want to get 2 at the end of the year.

That sucks. Would have been nice to have that

I came back last year after a 13 year hiatus and it is totally worth it for me.

I have to add that I have a lifetime account, so I had roughly 80k Zen waiting for me, which smoothed over some of the rough edges, I guess. But even without it (I started a new account before I remembered I had the old lifetime sub) I probably would still have enjoyed it the same.

It's better now than it ever has been.
