I recall the old series that played on the little 10 inch black and white TV with the big giant 5 foot rabbit ears lined in foil.
The Trouble with Tribbles is a instant classic in Trek TOS as a hallmark of their work in humor and making something very serious where billions may starve into something we all can identify with in the tribbles as human beings. prrr prrrr prrrr prrrr.
Poor Scottie. He probably got a Tribble somewhere in his Quarters to this day.
Thats about all im getting from this... and it seems for you an episode being sad is a black mark along with simply just disliking an episode. As for Serene Squall, I often take criticism of it with some grains of salt given its tends to turn out the dislike is for other more specific reasons (and im not saying thats what your saying).
Weird thing is, the larger majority of viewers kinda found the first episode of season 1 (the one you say you liked and called perfect) rather a weak one, I liked it but it did have that 'dont worry this is just episode 1, it gets better' vibes to it.
Also, I thought i was gonna cringe at Rhapsody, turned out to me not to bad (im one of those who can at least look at it and praise it for the work and effort that such an episode requires), TOS, never watched a LD episode but found it pretty good. TTT she never actually sees a Romulan, just one altered to look like a Human and she's also now a temporal agent and they have rules, and she seems the kind to stick to those rules. Hegemony was fine, sure its bit of a hard shoe horn based on the past but meh.
Thing is, do you really want all Trek to simply be like the TOS? Alot of the stuff you dislike about SNW or fear SNW will become is in the TOS too.
But yeah Disco stinks, ill give you that.
I never said that. Trouble with Tribbles was just fine!
you know Journalists tend to spread misinformation to get clicks right?
Discovery was sloppy for sure, but it had it's good moments. I liked Burnham's character arc and think it was in the top 5 of all trek character developments. I didn't like bearded spock, or that he was her overly emotional and needy brother. But that really illustrates what the core problem with discovery really was. It had no spine. Discovery would change anything, or do anything just to attach itself to a more famous name. It never even tried to stand on it's own.
Deep space nine is a willful and blatant rip off of Babylon 5. B5 was in development years before deep space nine. Warner brothers nearly sued paramount over it, but decided not to because at the time, paramount was vastly more powerful. You think voyager was bad after season 3? In deep space nine Sisko ends up being space ♥♥♥♥♥, and then entire thing breaks down into being a retelling of the bible.
Voyager was great. People don't like it after season three because of the Borg, but what you need to remember is that it wasn't voyager that did that. It was first contact that ruined the Borg. Voyager HAD to stay within first contact's continuity. You can thank brannon braga for that. He created the Borg queen, which absolutely gutted and destroyed the entire concept of the Borg. The introduction of seven of nine in the end of season 3 was actually a good thing, and that character was far better than Kes. (who was written out of the show because Jennifer Anne Lien who played Kes was a massive drug addict to the point where it became impossible to work with her. Look up her conviction record, and mugshots it's sad.) Seven of nine was a great character with a lot of really good stories and growth. The problem with seven of nine came when brannon braga started dating jeri ryan. That's when every episode becomes the borg trying to steal her back, which further ruins the borg and a lot of episodes of the show.
In short, most all of what people complain about in trek, is Brannon Braga's doing. Braga also freely admits to hating star trek and star trek fans. To the point where if you're looking for a job on trek, be it as an actor, a writer, a grip, even an unpaid PA, if braga thinks you like trek you won't get hired.
No, that's tabloids and facebook troll farms. Journalists are what keep you free.
