The game is painfully repetitive.
I have played 308 hours to date and I have been in this game for years now. The thing is, the gameplay is boring, especially when it comes to away missions. It is always the same thing. They should take some guidance from First Person shooters.

Space combat, the missions and all, after a while it all blends into one single scenario. It does not feel different at all. I feel like I am in the loop, no matter how many extra storylines they add. They are very uninspired and boring.

I tend to ignore the game up to 6 months at a time, to come back and find how nothing has changed. The devs need to change something about the game. It simply is not attractive to play.

I've never experienced that. ESD chat is too wild to keep up with anyway

they come here too, just read the chat posts, ignore a guy and he pops up some days later with another name but same account

For its time, this game was actually pretty cutting-edge. Being able to dismount your ship and traverse planets in an FPS mode was unheard-of in MMO's.

If you want my opinion, I think the developers have given up on this title. The amount of Star Trek fans will wane over time because it's just not so prominent in pop culture. Take a look at the amount of Star Trek games there are; not very many compared to something like Star Wars.

Long story short; this'll be the one and only Star Trek MMO we'll EVER have. How long they'll keep the servers on for is another question entirely. I get the feeling it'll go the way of Star Wars Galaxies sooner or later.

I doubt we'll ever get an improved engine or game mechanics. Story missions are a maybe. TFO's are likely. Ships are guaranteed (especially lockbox).

Considering DECA bought the game because it makes money, I'm confident they'll keep the servers on for at least 4-5 years.

note it's not boring for me. just do 1st episode and follow through, some area will be boring others wont be.

I have to say that my least favorite parts of the game are ground story mission segments.

Go talk to this guy, then this guy, then this guy, then come back to me.

Go place this here, here, and here, then come back to me.

Walk all the way down this long hallway, shocker, you need to go back and unlock the door, but wait, that console doesn't unlock it, not this one either, not this one either, ah here it is.

I love the space battles however. The only thing that makes those unfun are the OP Veteran/Whales who just full impulse around the map and insta-pop everything.

Some of the story is interesting, but a lot of it is uninspired filler dialogue.

Another favorite thing about it is the progression. I feel like I can log in every day and get something done or make progress in something. Grindy, but rewarding IMO

Whatever you do, do not watch the first original ST Movie. Its two hours of your life you will not get back.

Aww come now, the first Trek film wasn't THAT bad - with the right mood and mindset it still can be very awe-inspiring, if not alone for the Enterprise slowly venturing deep into the Cloud of V'ger, I always enjoyed that very detailed and atmospheric ILM effects porn A LOT! :D Only 2 films I would consider absolute wastes of precious lifetime are Final Frontier and Insurrection ... ;)
