2 min recharge
Reason #2:

360' targeting arc
To Primary Target: _____ Physical Damage
To 3 additional Foes within 2km of Primary Target: _____ Physical Damage
To Self: -10 Weapon Power while this weapon is firing
6 sec recharge

The only other choices that are even remotely close are the Ferengi Nandi Warship (to unlock the Ferengi starship bridge, if you don't already have access), the Breen Raider (for Cold-Hearted trait, which is nice to have (though not stellar) IF you're using an Aux2Bat build), and the Krenim Science Vessel (whose console is part of a pretty good set).
Personally, I love the Vorgon Ships, particularly the Ryn'Kodan Carrier. But then I really like Carriers
it boils down to what you want and when you started playing, theres some sci traits , def off of all kinds, but well it is up to the user.
last thing which i wanted to say was you "could " trade in the token for a few lower ones, but its sadly not necessarily worth it unless its that event where u can get ship upg tokens.
in fact , i wonder wether we could levl chars to where they can use the event reclaim, buy supgts and then erase em to do it again.
brilliant community and again thank you for the info
Which is why it's such a hot item.
Not at all. Totally unlocked, and a universal console too, so will fit anywhere.
It's just that it comes *with* the ship... getting the ship is the only way to get the console.
Yes. Slightly less so, as you would not get the benefit of the +15 cat1 Phaser Damage passive... but that's fairly small compared to everything else on the console.
For comparison... an epic tactical console for your energy type would have +39.4 of the same type of stat. So, if you are not using phaser, compared to using phaser, you would be losing the equivalent of 38% of one epiced tactical console.
so to reiterate the dominos fine , but it is the only setitem of that set able to be used on the ship it is from...
mind you the ships with the gateway spawner seem to have a nice trait, but im no longer sure that it is meta nowadays
(https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Allied_Dogfighters_Set)
simply a sign of the times.
mind you the new borg battle royale seems to have given em something else too.
nvm just musing.
overall dont forget that some event shop items are now in mudds if you wonder why they arent in epic.
getting an arc acc and starting to grind towards the event participation is the better the earlier.
the summer ship event should start soon
You don't see many sources of secondary shielding because it's pragmatically the same as temporary hitpoints of which there are many sources. Hull Image Refractors, which you'll see on most builds, will generate a steady supply of tempHP just from overheals.
Unless you're a fairly new player, or you're playing extremely dangerous content, I don't really see any situation in which you'd opt to slot a purely defensive console - you'll always be slotting some purely offensive consoles, but rarely anything that has NO offensive benefits... because the other guy dying quickly is the best form of defense in STO.
