What have Cryptic done??
500 is pretty much the max for a few games I play, but I hover around 200-250ms and yeah: it's unplayable. Americans don't seem to get it, because they play at 50-150 so it's buttery smooth for them. I wish we could play buttery smooth ):
I can get in, but it's not worth it because everything bugs out. Missions are literally unplayable because half of them don't work without resets
I'm glad to know that it's improved :3 For as long as I've been playing STO, the servers have always been unstable
Perhaps running a tracert or pathping to 208.95.184.200 .. that will show you what and or where any latency or network loss is happening that could be the cause of your unstable connection..
Because i'm i've been rather shocked that they really did do something that improved the servers.. It's has always felt like the lag in STO that always been, was just "Written into the game code"
Without those 0.25 to 0.5 sec network hiccups, i've found it so easy to avg 2500 to a perfect 2700 score playing DDR STO-Omega Edition...

There are things that just aren't correct.. STO has been very playable and I haven't had any issues since the the start of the KDF Recruit event (none of the "normal" rubberbanding).. I also wouldn't really call the current weather patterns and effects "wild".. They were predictable and it was known beforehand that an arctic front was going to be pushed down farther south then normal.. It is what you'd call "An Effect" which is the result of "A Cause".. Which was a large warm pocket of air in the northern pole region that disrupted the northern polar vortex (aka climate change)...
Which we have two Polar Vortices, one at each pole of the planet and are created and maintained by the spin of the earth and consistent cold/cool temps..
Picture a large dust devil, then something moving into/through it disrupting/blocking the airflow pattern.. It would break up the pattern and the air currents break off in different directions.. That is what in a simple comparison happened in the north this past January and causing the shift of arctic tempts down farther to the south..
As for "Power being flaky".. No I would strongly disagree with that assessment.. The US power grid is stable and sound with a consistent flow and wattage rate... In the West (California) PG&E was just failing to properly maintain their lines making sure they are free and clear of foliage, as cost "saving measure" just save a buck or three... To which the fires were their fault..
And Texas, they are just a state that is frighten of "The Man" overseeing and holding their utilities to a common safe standard like the rest of the country is... Texas has chosen to have their own overpriced and unregulated power grid apart from the rest of the USA.. Most of their power plants/sources are fossil fuel based sources.. That do not want to be held to a standard with what is known as "Oversight".. Leading to everyone's "shock" and learning that many of their power plants weren't designed or protected enough so as to function in extreme low temps like the rest of the countries power systems are.. I do feel sorry though for the avg person living in a state that is run by a bunch simple minded "oversized man kids" who won't dare allow anyone to tell them what or how to do something...
