Before we add even more fancy future ships (looking at you Wells), I'd rather add more TMP/TNG era ships. Also the countless low level ships the Klingons don't have retrofits of.
To be blunt, other than some low level ships not having retrofit equivalents, the feds have enough ships for now. The KDF needs some love for once.
The original Enterprise is not that faster than the bigger Enterprise E, altho the size is probably 2.5 to 1, so if you make a ship that is 2.5 times bigger than a current capital ship, it won't be much slower.
But we already have a ton of ships....I am still waiting for some big Eng ship, since so far, we had the Vesta that was Sci oriented, and the new dyson one that is also Sci oriented. The Kumari was another ship that went for the Tac, so in the end, a pure Eng ship is still yet to come. They have Eng friendly variation, but problably the Galaxy and the Excelsior are the only pure Eng ship that the game has.
I would cut a bunch of ships from the game; since you end up always play with 1 or 2 in the end, once you get to level cap. It was more fun if the ship would scale with your level, but then nobody would buy new ship :)
It had to be rushed the designer didn't have much time to work on Enterprise-J, so of course it's going to look sloppy.
