My Arc and Steam Account are differant
Hi everyone looking for some advice. I started play Star Trek Online a couple of weeks ago and am loving every moment of it. I use it via steam which automatically logs me in. However when I use my arc account it leads to a completely different account with my characters missing. How do I find my steam login details

I'm having the same problem. I made my Arc account to redeem some codes (following a step-by-step), but it's a different account entirely. I'm at a loss on what to do next. I opened a support ticket with Arc, but that was Wednesday and I've heard nothing back.

Please post the solution if you find out.

Ok, maybe I'm missing something on my end, but when I run STO using steam, it generally goes straight to the character selection screen on loadup. If you press the "back" button, it should take you back to the login screen that displays the email address associated with the account. It is that email address that you should be using for your arc account.
If you have your email but don't know know your password for that account you can also try recovering it when logging in to arcgames.com.

When Steam creates the account there's no email address on the login screen and the arc website doesn't recognize the email address associated with Steam. You probably have Steam using an existing Arc account or were able to link them back when they had that option available (disabled now due to ridiculous numbers of bugs).

I too have the same problem, so I contacted ARC support and got the following response

"I've read that you want to link your Steam generated account into your newly created Arc account. I appreciate the inquiry and I'll be glad to review the said concern.

As much as customer support would love to link a Steam generated account into an Arc account, unfortunately, we are unable to do this process due to technical tool limitations. As of now, there is no option to use your Arc credentials or link to an existing account when you start playing and created a Steam generated account.

If you would like to play using the Steam launcher, then you will need to use the game account created automatically through Steam. If you would like to use your Arc credentials instead to play, then you should download Arc and play through there. I apologise for any confusion and inconvenience caused by this."

Thank you for your patience and understanding on this matter. For other questions or concerns that fall out of this category, feel free to contact us again by visiting our support site (https://support.arcgames.com/hc/en-us) to submit a new ticket. Have a good day/night!

So if you didn't create an ARC account when you ran STO the first time, then there is no way to link it now. What this means is that there is now way to enter any promo codes that you might get from a third party site onto your steam account. I bought a bundle from Fanatical https://www.fanatical.com/en/bundle/star-trek-online-charity-bundle. and have no way to redeem the code.

Slightly Pissed

Same response here. I too feel the piss

Yeah, i don't believe it. Everyone knows STO's code is a mess, but i cannot believe that Arc's support doesn't have the technical means to link, merge or transfer accounts and their contents. What the hell is supposed to be so different with a Steam generated account to make it so utterly incompatible to a regular created Arc one?

Or whatever stops Arc to work together with Steam to make codes redeemable on Steam?
I call BS on all of this!

Is there even a way to spend real money on the game without a proper Arc account? You'd think if steam users can't give them money they would this issue.

Not sure, but you can access your Steam wallet in-game to buy their staggeringly high priced premium currency.

Of course you can buy their ZEN currency with money from your Steam wallet. Those are easily linked apparently. But it is technically impossible to redeem codes and vouchers through Steam? Yeah, right!

I just wrote this up in another thread (and had mentioned a slightly less detailed version in the past) but maybe this will be a good strategy to try. I had a ton of issues when PW first introduced Arc and this process works nicely for me.

Probably not - the issue is not that people don't have an Arc account (they do), it's just that their account was automatically created and they don't know their username/password/email to reset their password (because the account was automatically created).

FYI i managed to get my Steam and Arc accounts linked and can redeem codes for Steam now.
German Arc support made it happen without much fuss after a few days of waiting.
English/international Arc support said it was techically impossible, which was obviously a lie.
So go tell them that they're lazy liars and that you DEMAND to have your accounts linked, because apparently German Arc support can make it happen without much effort!

Actually it is exactly the issue stated. This is one way to get them to find the info needed to link accounts. This is different from password reset issues.
