I Can't Exit The Airlock at the Dilithium Mine

I know I'm always doing something wrong, but this I just can't figure out. I'm at the mining station, got the EV suit that came with a lifetime subscription, talked to that little Ferengi and pushed the Exit Airlock button but nothing happened. Does it have something to do with the Mining Claim thing? I have to get one from a lock box? Can anyone shed some light on this situation in words a 3 year old can understand?

Is your suit active? Once you're wearing the suit you will have two extra buttons at the top of your powers tray. The one at the left is for activating the suit, the other is for jumping and auto-following the beacons. You will see a light on the front of the EV suit if it's active.

I thought the airlock was just a screen - you should be able to walk right through it.

I like the screen that you can walkthrough/forcefield. Thanks for the advice. I'm going tot try to find those buttons. What about some laser for drilling? Isn't there some special tool I need?

No, just pick up at the mining task from the supervisor. The tool is automatically used.

If you are not seeing the EV-suit toggle buttons, you may have hidden them. At the top right of the bar there is 1/2/3 toggle and another for ev-suit (when equipped).

Right. I've got it. Went out to the field and the F ...whatever mining guy wanted to see my mining claim. I didn't have one so I just went around the field jumping like a madman because I'm wondering if it's really worth the trouble.

First I have to have a mining claim to dig for dilitihium.
-You can only get a mining claim from a lock box ...what type? There are many types.
-I am in the process of opening box after box after box burning keys and getting no mining claim... only worthless "common" stuff. Pointless.
-Keys are about $1.25 real money each and keys don't float around in space.
-That's real money to buy keys to buy lock boxes (becasue I'm not getting anything from all those free boxes that are being thrown out into space) so I can find a claim to dig for only 7000 dilithium per day so I can exchange the dilithium for Zen (at 250 dil for 1 Zen), so I can buy the 10 Master Keys to sell for 25 million EC. How long would I have to mine Dil' and how much would I have to spend on keys to find the mining claims to match 25 million EC?

1,125 Zen for 10 Keys (25 Million EC)

I think it's cheaper jsut to buy Zen for Keys for EC rather than Zen for Keys for Lock boxes for mining claims for mining 7000 dil a day for turning dil in to zen and zen into keys and then finally into EC. Wheeew!

I'm going to prove this theory as soon as I can find just one mining claim!

You only need the claim for the rich deposit area. The normal ones (5) are daily (20h) and only require you to talk to the supervisor to pick up the daily mission.

The rich claim drops randomly from all lockboxes, pretty rare actually.

Regarding rich claim drops ...them's the only ones that matter to me :) I'm a prospector of real gold, and I would much rather pick at some lode veins than gather pixie dust from dirt any day of the year. Just a random thought. I'm going to try to use the Exit Airlock button rather than Exit to Mine choice after equiping and then turning on the EV suit. And find my way to the mission circles to gather the low grade ore like a poor desperate miner :(

I would set out to do this mission at once ...only the server is down. What a world!!!
