Star Trek Online

Single player
Hi

I was just wondering will cryptic every make a single player version of this game?

The reason why i am asking is because i just feel sometimes that i really want something like e.g a ship or equipment and then i just want to cheap little bit with the EC to get it, because i don't have that kind of Money in game. With the reputation i mean you are going to need to farm alot to get to tier 5 and that is excluding the long waiting times for the 2.500k rep (20 hours) also the dill sometimes is a pain 8k daily refine and the 31.500k cost for certain items in the rep as well as the 1000k marks and also the special items require to get some of those items (ancient power cell, borg processor etc.)

Now i am not trying to discourage people in playing this game but these are just the certain facts that players will need to do in order to get the good gear, that are inspired by certain factions.

My point is i just want to be free of all these restrictions like daily cap and 20 hour waiting times
I play this game for fun but now i need to work in order to get the stuff that i really want i know i might sound lazy but come on i dont want to work in game, i already work hard i turn to this for fun now i still need to work lol.

again this is just how i feel and ofcourse my question above.

Thanks

Star Trek Online already provides the ideal single player experience, seeing that you can reach the level cap without spending money, and entirely though solo questing/mission delving experiences. The rewards that come from reputations are shiny, but entirely not necessary to complete the game.

The time gates on reputations/dilithium/bonus rep marks are there purely to slow down player progression while Cryptic designs new content. Imagine if it were not there, players would farm a lot, and then finish the game in a month. Players might then find themselves on reddit, complaining that the game does not have enough content.

Even if STO were single player only and offline, the game would simply not have the reputation system at all, and with it, the rewards would go as well. If it were single player, those shiny cash shop ships and lock box ships would simply not exist. Basically, there would not be an incentive to create new content if people could have access to it for little or no money.

In closing, if you work hard, as in you have a job and make money, then put that money directly into STO in order to skip some of the time gates. You can turn ZEN into dilithium which bypasses the 8k daily cap entirely. You can buy the best ships in the game for a mere 3,000 ZEN. You can even turn ZEN into items that you can in turn sell on the exchange and become rich overnight. You have options.

From lvl 1 to lvl 54..I have not spent a single cent. Still going strong. No need Zen to get to 60. Get Zen when you hit 60 and buy the most expensive ship which is only $30.00, equivalent to two months of subbing.

It takes about 40 days to get Reputations to level 5

When using the double xp token on another character it takes around 20

Assuming you dont miss any projects.

I think once you get the hang of things it becomes pretty easy in all aspects.
I have 3 chars now that have all rep up to tier 5 except Iconian. Just hit level 3 Iconian on 1 char and will work on other 2 once I can sponsor them. I haven't done 1 mission with the new Iconian stuff either and I have 1k+ marks on 3 chars. Thanks to Risa birds and monkeys :P

I see the point in the question but as alot of the players would tell you it is better as a mmo but i bet in the future there will be a game like this as a single player console game

Want single player, play Bridge Comander. and you dont need to team with anyone on STO.

Yeah, go buy Bridge Commander, Star Trek: Legacy and Star Trek: Starfleet Commander and play that if you want Offline single player Star Trek games. OP sounds quite lazy and extremely cheap in his question.

Star Trek Online is online for a reason, it is a money making MMORPG. PWI owns STO now and they are milking this game for all the money they can squeeze out of it. PWI has been making this game even more pay to win and grind crazy since they took over.

Sorry, that is the way the cookie crumbles. You either like the game and play what you can enjoy of it and forget the rest. Or just don't install it. There was another recent Star Trek game (based on the rebooted movies) in the works by another company, but i think it folded.

I actually have a bunch of these games in my pc disk collection. I pretty much quit playing STO before the Delta recruit update.
