Guys i go into battle and my shield just pop (mind u im lvl 60 and basically fight borg and do elites)
But i want to get a good shield survivability set of engines, shields, deflector etc, i dont really use many science consoles just universal epic for special damage and invisibility(fluidic console)

One does not simply keep his shield when fighting borg spheres.

Since they've seriously buffed tachyon beam a while ago you shileds WILL drop regardless of your build. Hit Brace for Impact, Subspace Field Modulator and stuff and wait till they're done spamming tachyon beam before you start healing your shields.

Just stick to the various rep & fleet shields and you'll be fine.
The full dyson rep-set is pretty neat for such situations though I'd reccomend the Iconian Resisatnce set for overall usefulness.

What is a strong shield fit is in general then?
Serious Dave Sep 16, 2015 @ 1:19am
Generally keep your shield power high for shield hardness (the shield's resistance to energy damage) and the rest depends on your build.
Each type has it's advanatges and disadvantages and it mostly depends on your overall build & playstyle what works best for you.

Rephrase: what sets or modules (between shield, deflector, consoles, ecc) combinations are the most used/common ones for a high resistance?

Off the top of my head none. Those are commonly used to boost offensive stats and help your dps out a bit. Like the Nukara 2pc (+2,5% weapon damage) & romulan engine (+26 Attack patterns) or just direct shield & hull heals like many sets have.

The iconian deflector is pretty much the only one which gives kinetic resistance and most shields do that for specific or all energy types.
All the other stuff only increases your skillpoint in like Particle Generator, Structural Integrity, Weapons Training, power levels, etc.

Besides trying to get actually high resistances in the first place is pretty much pointless.
Stacking resistances have incredible diminished returns, so after hitting about 30% your additional stuff will add almost nothing. Having like 1 or maybe 2 fleet armor consoles will pretty much get you there.
Every time I see someone with like 3 or 4 of these I starts laughing and think "what a waste of resources".

Unless you are flying a Science boat you should not focus on your shields as much as your hull resistances and heals.

In any build Tac Team is essential for keeping your shields up in battle. Any BOff ability that includes the ability to restore fallen shield facing, is pretty critical to your shield management options.

Otherwise if not running specific sets, get the shield which has built in resistance to the damge you are taking.

Thanks guys, i have 2 science consoles that in total will give me 50% extra shields, but at the moment im using universal consoles, i could make a loadout of each setup

Icononin Epic or ultra set 4 piece, Crafted Science console from level 15 SCI research R&D, Craftable RCS From level 15 ENG R&D, if skills are right and correct BO abilities used should have no problem running Elite ques and surviving. The SCI and ENG craftable consoles above can only slot one of each at a time and raise shield power 50%, the sci console also has some extra sfuff as bonus.

OK, but for a start using shield consoles is a total waste, no matter the ship/build. You will discover it with time. Science vessels have an innate boost to shield capacity. That way you can avoid putting extra shield consoles and similar stuff. Nobody these days (at least experienced people) use shield related consoles. It is a total waste, knowing that DPS is the main concern today and you can "tank" in this game with any ship, even with escorts thanks to the thousands of healing / buff abilities you can get.

Unless your running a sci console with Exotic boost that has a +shield buff, in any event I would personaly tinker with your build, find out what works for yourself. Anyone who knows this game (at least experienced people), lol, know that all consoles and many items lie in some way, they either don't do exactly what they say or they are massively OP.

Best to find out for yourself what works and what doesn't on your build.

i know that, like a boost to shields DOESNT increase as you turn up shield power and sneaky little tricks
to be honest, im just worried about going in to battle in elite, against borg, and torps, which on npcs are unbalanced as hell

I will say it does get easier the more you do it, we have even at time thrown proven tacticts out the window to try new things to make it more challenging.

Its not all about gear, infact I would say gear is 10%, skill build and traits 25%, rest is you and the people you fly with.

I really recommend you to check the skill planner from the official forums, and see how many science ships you find using shield booster consoles. You will be surprised i am right.. lol. Almost nobody waste science console slots for science shield boosters. Im not talking about other science consoles, like exotic damage boosters, im talking about SHIELD boosters. Maybe you are not such an "experienced" player as you thought.

If you actually took the time to read you would see I was talking about Consoles that affect Exotic Damage with a + shield bonus......

Maybe you need to examine why you need to look up builds instead of thinking outside your very limited box?

And still those consoles are a waste. Everything that comes with (shield+) is useless. Almost any other modifier will be a better option.

After 3000+ hours on steam, plus god knows how many hours before steam and arc using the original launcher, I'll stick with what I know thanks.
