Since they've seriously buffed tachyon beam a while ago you shileds WILL drop regardless of your build. Hit Brace for Impact, Subspace Field Modulator and stuff and wait till they're done spamming tachyon beam before you start healing your shields.
Just stick to the various rep & fleet shields and you'll be fine.
The full dyson rep-set is pretty neat for such situations though I'd reccomend the Iconian Resisatnce set for overall usefulness.
Each type has it's advanatges and disadvantages and it mostly depends on your overall build & playstyle what works best for you.
The iconian deflector is pretty much the only one which gives kinetic resistance and most shields do that for specific or all energy types.
All the other stuff only increases your skillpoint in like Particle Generator, Structural Integrity, Weapons Training, power levels, etc.
Besides trying to get actually high resistances in the first place is pretty much pointless.
Stacking resistances have incredible diminished returns, so after hitting about 30% your additional stuff will add almost nothing. Having like 1 or maybe 2 fleet armor consoles will pretty much get you there.
Every time I see someone with like 3 or 4 of these I starts laughing and think "what a waste of resources".
In any build Tac Team is essential for keeping your shields up in battle. Any BOff ability that includes the ability to restore fallen shield facing, is pretty critical to your shield management options.
Otherwise if not running specific sets, get the shield which has built in resistance to the damge you are taking.
Unless your running a sci console with Exotic boost that has a +shield buff, in any event I would personaly tinker with your build, find out what works for yourself. Anyone who knows this game (at least experienced people), lol, know that all consoles and many items lie in some way, they either don't do exactly what they say or they are massively OP.
Best to find out for yourself what works and what doesn't on your build.
to be honest, im just worried about going in to battle in elite, against borg, and torps, which on npcs are unbalanced as hell
I will say it does get easier the more you do it, we have even at time thrown proven tacticts out the window to try new things to make it more challenging.
Its not all about gear, infact I would say gear is 10%, skill build and traits 25%, rest is you and the people you fly with.
If you actually took the time to read you would see I was talking about Consoles that affect Exotic Damage with a + shield bonus......
Maybe you need to examine why you need to look up builds instead of thinking outside your very limited box?
After 3000+ hours on steam, plus god knows how many hours before steam and arc using the original launcher, I'll stick with what I know thanks.
