Galaxy Exploration Cruiser Retrofit for new player

I just started playing this game (i know it says i have 12 hours but that was yearrrrs ago and I dont remember anything) and I really want to get the Galaxy Exploration Cruiser Retrofit because I love TNG.. I just finished the tutorial so if I buy it can I use it right away? it says its tier 5 so I dont know

I don't think so. I think that is level 40+, and you will want to upgrade it at max level which makes it 'almost' a tier 6 ship if you want to keep using it.

A small # of ships are usable at all levels and grow with the character, but most of those are from events where you can get the ship at low levels

you can get to 40 *very* quickly if you really want to. And you can still do the story stuff; it scales to your level as you go. I actually enjoy the story missions MORE at higher level than at 20 etc. There are tons of how tos on leveling quickly and such.

If you are *that* into TNG, you might want to wait for a sale and grab the T6 exploration cruiser from the store for a couple of bucks - despite the 'futuristic' looks (you know what I mean), it comes with the actual skin of the Galaxy class so you can use that at max level.

Nowadays this also has the benefit of the game letting you fly T6's regardless of rank, merely the stations / console slots are stage-locked until you reach certain levels.

In essence, you can start a new recruit and fly the T6 Galaxy right away and unlock more slots for consoles and weapons as you level up.

Yes it's sneaky of them to sprinkle in the iconic ships during levelling, making them obsolete later and offering the 'same' ships at T6 rank for money, but that's how it is.

So, if you plan on sticking with it and you really love the Galaxy, you might consider straight up buying it.

Only Tier 6 ships can be used at any level. (Well, and Tier 1, but why?). Tier 2 ships are level 10+, Tier 3 are 20+, Tier 4 are 30+, and Tier 5 are either 40+ or 50+ (depending on the ship).

That said...

when you get to level 30, you can pick up the (base model) T4 Galaxy for free with your promotion reward, and when you get to level 61, you get a token for a free Tier 5 (Zen) ship, and although it's limited to certain ships, you can use it for the Galaxy Retro.

And, as mentioned, the T6 Exploration Cruiser can wear a Galaxy skin.

Actually, all Tier 6 ships do that, now.

you can buy a similar ship for zen, though you get reduced weapon mounts until level 30. there is also an upgraded galaxy class star ship that looks like the enterprise D as it looked in the final episode. it can also use dual cannons(the 3 nacelle one) just a hint of warning: while it can use saucer separation, it(the 3 nacelle one) does not come with the console. the 2 nacelle version comes with the console, including the one you get for free as you level up. if anything of this is confusing, i can explain it better.

the 5's wait for level 50. I honestly spent on the fed ship bundle and romulan ship bundle many years ago. because the Tier 6's can be used right after tutorial ends on any storyline. the crew ability slots in space are at the number level matching the level you're at. but the t-6's are great

also you can pull gold consoles off the ship bundle ones once you've activated/purchased them at each new ship level. putting them on the t-6

And remember a lot of tier 1-4 ships come with good consoles and weapons you might want to keep.....a few t4 ships also have access to stuff like quad cannons in pha, dis and plasma flavours.....so at least if your bypassing using lower tier ships make sure you grab the ones with stuff that will be useful to your build, my Rom loves those quad cannons.

Welcome to the game. It's a mess. A hot mess. But it's our hot mess and we love it. A bit less so as they keep pushing Kurtzmen-Drek down our collective throats but that's to be expected, sadly.

As others have pointed out you're better off getting a T6 ship as soon as possible. Assuming you're an adult holding down a full time job then it's not expensive at all to just go ahead and grab one now, discount or no discount.

If money is tight and you don't mind waiting then at least a few times a year they offer discounts on T6 Ships and events that will give you 50% coupons or sometimes even 100% discount coupons for T6 ships. So it's not at all difficult to get them whichever way you prefer.

I don't recall offhand if the T6 Galaxy class variant has the TNG-Era bridge built in or not. If you want that too you will probably have to pay for it. Bridge discounts happen sometimes but pretty rarely.

Fair warning....sometimes the ship you were POSITIVE would be the only ship for you gets sidelined by some new, sexy, sleek piece of Nacelle-packing hotness. Guard your wallet well.

even if you were to go straight to a tier 6 ship, you should still get the free ships at levelup. while you might not need it for the game, each ship you own can be used on admirality once you get to level 52(even when drydocked). tier 6 ships you own on one character is automatically available for admirality without having to claim it.

So if I buy the t6 ship from the store I can put the TNG ship skin on it? Can someone confirm which t6 ship that is?

It's the Andromeda Exploration Cruiser in the T6 tab.

Note that you will not get the saucer separation console this way, in case you want in on that.

For that console, you'd need to wait for level 61 and get the Galaxy Exploration Cruiser Retrofit T5, using your final free ship token.
That ship comes with the console included and you can then use it on the T6 Galaxy / Andromeda.
