Thoughts on the Odyssey uniform?
Just curious, what are most players thoughts on the games Odyssey uniform that regular Starfleet players start with? I don't see very many players wear it, do the think it looks generic or something? Or do players just like wearing battle armor and revealing outfits?

I think a lot of people, other than the jarheads and the nekkid makers, gravitate towards the uniforms from the different shows more than the Odyssey uniforms. My TOS still wears TOS, my Disco wears Disco, and I have a DS9 and a TNG grey shouldery dude and a Alliance uniform dude which is weird since it's another Odyssey like made up uniform but yeah not a lot of standard uniforms out there. I have a dozen toons, 9 FED and only just the one decked out in Odyssey.

Edit: also, you'll occasionally see a Joker or a Supergirl out there but don't do it, you will get got as some tightazz or other will trouble ticket complain about you and then wham ban hamma tyme

I like the Odyssey uniform in that I think it's a great evolution of the Starfleet uniform in the STO era. I prefer it over what was made up for Lower Decks and Picard. I wore it until I made Rear Admiral, then started dressing differently. My crew still wear the Odyssey outfits.

It is true that you rarely see people wear them. And I have seen the battle armor and skimpy outfits, but mostly I see people wearing unique uniforms from Fleet unlocks or just other Starfleet regulation options, including the Antares, Sierra, and Jupiter sets. There's just a lot of choices.

I like decking my characters out in all different outfits... there's the fleet "excursion" version of the Odyseey (with cargo pockets), the Wells Temporal uniform, the DS9/VOY era uniform, the First Contact uniform with corduroy, the Bajoran Militia uniform, etcetera...

how do you get banned for having an joker/supergirl outfit on your toon? last i checked their clothes doesn't violate the TOS/EULAs for STO...

I would assume it's a precaution thing, like the whole lawsuit potential that was argued about with City of Heroes back in the day.

It's not their IP, I'm sure they proly just send you a message and tell you to change it under threat of a ban. They got me for my Tank Grrrl over in CO and that was for my name being too close to Tank Girl and I had to delete that toon or get the boot. Atari helped build STO and CO but call your fleet Atari Force and they'll get a bug up their nose for that too.

I base the uniforms i wear by the ship in flying, one of my toons is in a galaxy class - tng era uniform, one of my toons is in the excelsior class - wrath of khan uniform, one of my toons is in the jupiter carrier - current sto uniform, all my orions are in the metal bekini tho

i think people feel compelled to use the uniforms they purchased, rather than free ones that come with the game. Everyone has odyssey by default.
I do actually like it since its one of the higher res outfits, but I use a dress variant which looks a bit fancier. Before unlocking it at a fleet, i used odyssey, though not with the default color scheme.

<.< I use the Odyssey uniform because it matches every (or nearly so) other current-era Starfleet NPC in the game.

Same here, I was just curious because it didn't seem like very many players appreciated this uniform, I know it's technically not Canon but it looks pretty good.

Odyssey unis were popular when they were new. They were a big upgrade over the Antares and Sierra uniforms, which were the only free options before the Odyssey was made available. And I think they're still the sharpest look today, probably because they're newer than most of the paid Starfleet uniforms.

The issue now is they're the default uniform for the default faction, so anyone who wants to stand out chooses something else. Or you get the TOS or Discovery players who just never visit the Tailor. Or people who are bigger TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT fans than they are STO fans, and paid cash for their uniforms.

Personally, I still keep my Odyssey uniform saved in wardrobe and bring it out when I want to make a cinematic scene look more authentic, or on those increasingly rare occasions that I do any RP. But I don't wear it as my running around uniform. Even if it improved my immersion, that'd evaporate as soon as I saw another damn pair of Elachi follower spawns or flaming demon Targs or those damn Herald wizard staffs. The narrow, dark corridors of the current Event mission have really accentuated how obnoxious group ground combat has become. I don't suffer from epilepsy, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if this Event gave me a seizure before it's finished.
