Act of defiance

Hi,
I've just started playing this game, so it might be me doing (or not doing) something really stupid. On the mission Act of Defiance I have to shut down the plasma leaks on the azura. I can see a console which sparkes right next to a leak (which hurts me if I try to walk past it). The only problem is that I can't seem to interact with the console at all. I've tried for about 20 minutes to switch this damn thing off and just can't figure it out. An option to "bypass console" appeared very breifly once but I can't seem to get it to reappear. Is there a special button I have to press? Thanks!

the access areas for these consoles seem to have shifted a bit. You can find them either against the wall off to the side of the console or by jumping onto the console itself. It took some time to figure it out but it is still doable, just not as easy as it should be.
