Why do that torment us with "fastest game on ice"
No really, its the worst event ever.I suck so bad at it and it takes me hours to beat it once, i wish they replaced it with something a little easier such as "the slowest game on cement" or something like that. In the mean time could someone give me a few tips on how to beat this stupid thing.

Maybe google for some tips. Ask in the game for tips and tricks. i heard at one time buffs helped in the race, http://sto.gamepedia.com/Q's_Winter_Wonderland

Pro tip: Ease off the "pedal" when coming into corners, otherwise you'll just skid off.

Also running all the time might not be the fastest way. Key is control, not speed.

Well, honestly it is amazingly easy to do the race. I understand some people like you have terrible skills even at easiest things, but thats not cryptic's fault. Most people dont have any problems finishing the race, so it is an amazing easy way to get a free ship.

Other people are really bad piloting the floaters in the risa event, so?? unless you want a button that says "claim free ship", dude a bit of work is needed. And again, the race is amazingly easy to do. I mean, something easier??? as i say, something easier will be just a button to claim your ship....
Hey its not my fualt that i am unskilled, its why i play games like sto and dota 2.Anyways i also could not do the risa evet for the same reason.I am just bad at games i guess.

That was helpful, thanks a bunch.
I figured out how to beat it, apperantly you can start before the countdown hits 0, giving you a big head start. Its easy to beat now.

I think the event sucks. No i have no problem finishing it, it still sucks. At least the summer event is fun. The regular race against people is fun.. but the one you have to do for the ships just sucks balls. Its not fun, and just a chore you do.

Run run run - come to a corner - jump. In mid air tap your forward direction key. You will land without sliding.

Just turn really right and really early. It's laughably easy.

So true...

if your driving - think of drifting ... turn early.

And if your unsure - dont use run (shift) ... as its still winable with ease.

Already have some experience with the race from 2013, but the new Breen ship would be an interesting alternative to my beloved Chel Grett, and after one first trial run this time, I found to get into it again quite quick, and beat it 3 times now.

Sometimes I screw up (perhaps 1 in 5, or less), but usually, I start (as said, "early", you can get a bit away from your competitor) with shift+w to enter running/sliding, and then steer the whole parcour just with the mouse. Once you got the knack of it, you just have to steer early before a turn, sure you will slow down somewhat before skidding off in the new direction, and it's not the fastes way, but reliable. ;)

Oh, and "crouch" (c for me) comes in handy as a "oh-♥♥♥♥" button if you need one (I usually don't ^^), you will do a roll and can stop, so if you are in danger of leaving the track, it can easily save you, but slows you down and it's ofc better to not have to use it.

Weeell... it took me into January to collect all the tickets, soo... 2013 :steammocking:

And sure, it's a superb ship, and on my main (tac) will not be replace until I got the dil farmed to buy me some T6 pilot escort, but the dread is perfectly fine for one of my other toons, and even my main will welcome the ability to fly that ship once in a while ;)

For the op, about the race, people keep trying to stay inside the track. Remember that you can go outside for a little bit without exceding, if you do it right you will have even less problems.

Just be aware, that the (invisible) boundary is not the same all over the track, some places you can leave it for several meters, and at other places, you will get disqualified for going far less off the track. But you can try to do "cuts" were you think possible, if you got the time and find out for each turn where that limit actually is.

Just face the way you need to turn and roll, instant win.

Hello everyone, yes, this event sucks the big snow cone! However, it's really no big deal, I mean is it worth a Breen Dreadnaught to get so frustrated because of slipping off the track and getting disqualified if you go out of bounds. It's no problem. Just go back to the Event Coordinator at the main loby and try again. You don't have to come in first or even 10th, just have to come in under the time limit, and you are good for another 40 points and can do it again in 20 hours. Meanwhile, go to the other events and get points to buy stuff like a candycane bat'leth. Then you can jump the gian snoconian and save the gingerbread men village and find a recipie for Nelix.

(edit) don't believe it!!! You have to win!!!

There is alot to do at the event, check this out:
