Is There Any Mission At All That I Can Gain An Advantage With A Subspace Field Modulator (accuired form the "Skirmish" mission/Drake gave it to me).

I'm just wondering, because I blindly chose that one as the prize for killing all the Dividians with Sniper Rifles.

The only thing the subspace field modulator does is give a 34 Energy damage resistance buff, a -400 Proton damage resistance buff (irrelevant, no npcs use proton damage), and 15% Defense.

It shouldn't be used when fighting Tholians, but is useful everywhere else.

Thanks, I read that info somewhere, but if just didn't make sense to me, so basically, the thing only give me +34 Energy resistance against any NPC ships not using Proton? Which means everything right? Phasers, Tet, Pos, Antipro? etc?

Lastly, this thing is automatically installed and I don't have to push a button for it to be active, or is it one of the buttons on my tray?

You have to drag the "Subspace Field Modulator" ability to your tray in order to use it (it's not a passive bonus).

And according to the wiki don't use it against Tholians (evidently they deal some amount of Proton Damage). But yes, it means everything except Proton.

No specific mission comes to find, but if you find yourself being pummeled by multiple foes at once, triggering this ability will help to survive the onslaught (damage reduction to all energy types, except proton). Note: does not offer protection from kinetic, so no good against torpedoes/mines.

I most likely will not be needing it since everything seems to be good for now, but In know how fast that changes in this universe :)
