Linux support?
From the past discussions, it seems that the game has worked in Linux.
It doesn't start on my notebook with Debian testing.
Is there a trick to run it in Linux?
Thanks

No, it don't run on Linux natively. You have to use Wine, Proton, or other addons that provide Windows files.
i will try my best to help. in order to do that: i need information on your hardware. i do know that they removed support for certain older drivers. though i do not have an exact list. i had to update the drivers on my windows 10 laptop, because the game simply refused to run on my old drivers. though in return i got better performance. it would also help to know your driver version.

Thank you for your messages.

I tried to run it with Proton. I have Steam beta and tried different versions of Proton in Steam from version 7 to 9 and also experimental. I have a Lenovo notebook with AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 7840U w/ Radeon 780M Graphics. The current linux kernel is 6.11.4 and Mesa is 24.2.4
It might be possible that my GPU isn't supported because it's not a dGPU.

I don't have an error message. The game just exits silently.
the game runs fine on integrated gpus. i have an amd hd 8330. it ran slowly before but, after a driver update it ran a lot better. it also ran on my intel hd 4600 but, i would much rather use my better gtx 770m. does the launcher show up?

So, it seems that a lot of people have had luck using one of two different ways to run it, one is linking your steam and arc accounts, and another, while more lengthy, does seem to work for a lot of people is basically the Linux equivalent of setting the game up to be run directly without Steam after the install.

Here is the Reddit post with the instructions for both options laid out, and while it has been a awhile since I used Linux regularly, The instructions seem really clear and straightforward. Maybe this will help, and at the least maybe provide a jumping off point for other ideas to try.

The launcher doesn't show up. Sometimes I see a window with 'processing GPU shaders' or similar. Nothing else.
I tried the Reddit instructions but that didn't work either.
Looks like I can't play for some reason. That's a shame.
My last idea: Are there any logfile somewhere?
Thanks again for your ideas :-)
try to switch to proton experimental. that is from protonDB.

I'll admit i'm not familiar enough with installing the game on Linux to know where it's log files would be, but given what you mentioned, I wonder if maybe the game is bugging out when it's trying to compile or load the shader cache? Could try optimizing or even deleting the shader cache and seeing if that help?

This post gave great instructions, and extra info that could help. I'll keep looking for stuff and see what else I can think of.

I'm still collecting and cross checking a bit of info, but if people would like i'd be happy to do a simple guide collecting the info and links together for people. (That way I can make sure that all the original posters and sources get the credit for stuff)

Re-reading my last post I thought I had posted the link explaining the location of the shader caches...turned out I didn't, sorry. I will say, you can adjust shader cache settings directly from Steam settings:
Open the ‘Steam’ menu in the upper left of the app, go to ‘Settings’ and then go the ‘Downloads’ section on the left.

On the right-hand side, scroll all the way down and you should see the section for ‘Shader Pre-Caching’. There you can enable/disable pre-caching (turning it off and restarting steam and re-enabling it should clear it out) and allows you to also turn on compiling Vulkan shaders in the background.

Some people have reported background compiling may cause a bit game lag, or that turning pre-caching off may cause longer loading times in some games, but others mention it works fine either way, so all else, at least something to test.

I’ll update as I get more info, but always open for questions in the meantime, or if anyone has info they want to add. 😊

Definitely another option to try as well, along with everything else. From what I have read a lot of people say that the experimental branch seems to run older games better, especially on the Steam Deck.
