Oh so its in the episodes where i should start, thank you soooo much^^ thats exactly what i wanted to know, some place where i can basicaly see from top to bottom what i should and can do^^
I started some mission the admiral showed me, "the Fujiwhara Effect" and that one seemed pretty hard for a mission after the tutorial xD
Just do like s0t3lg said and use the J button to track in what order to do them. I've been playing since the game came out on disks and still do that.
Now since andrea mentioned Patrol missions I'll add something to that. 1st Patrols are self contained 'quests' outside of the story line. Also in addition to finding them on the 'info panel' you'll also be offered them when you fly next to the planet they're on.
I mention this because there's a few of the story missions that ALSO happen at those planets so when you fly up to the planet you'll be offered 2 mission choices; the story one and the patrol one. Just pay attention when you choose to get the correct one.
Do all the events, like this halloween one right now. There will be a christmas one coming up too. Make a couple more toons and level them up as well before you get sick and tired of the storyline. You'll want to have 1 tactical, 1 science and 1 engineer so that later on they can create manuals for your Bridge officers and mail them to yourself to switch items onto different toons. They have an account bank you can buy so abusing the mail like that might not be entirely within the codes of conduct so don't post that little tidbit of info on a forum somewhere or anything; and heaven forbid mentioning anything like mailing yourself stuff and leaving it sitting in your mail for extra bank space, that would be just wrong.
Don't spend your currencies yet, dil, marks, what have you...e-credits flow like water so buy stuff and figure out stuff burning your e-credits then when you have a handle on things start seeing what you can get for your dilithium. You'll be glad you did since anything you want will require fat stacks of dil and you'll regret frittering it away once you figure out what's the best use for it.
Sooner or later in the episodes you'll run into fighting Romulan Ships and get all anxious about your build or think you're doing something wrong because they are going to beat you like you owe them money. It's not your build. There are some tricks to fighting Rommies and identifying the silhouette and names of those ships. No I'm not going to screw you and tell you what they are. The game is super easy. If you trick out your build or wiki up the ships you're never ever going to figure out how to beat them. With that prior knowledge you'll crest yourself into just beating them instead of figuring out the tricks of those ships which later on when the sky is full of ships shooting at you you'll never have the chance to learn why you are still winning but at a very slim margin and missing out on da lewts by doing so poorly. Also, knowing what they're going to pull and just avoiding, sure that works...but what's even better is figuring it out yourself so when you're in a tight spot you'll have your timing down and can finesse that shaeyt right da frak out of all ur troubles.
Ground combat, which in the episodes you'll become intimately familiar with, is jankey as all get out. You'll want to spam AOE and pets to just let the computer fight itself and be done with the whole garbage. Right now though, not a lot of AOE or pets to cram onto your BOFFS/ Bridge Officers. Here's a cheapo but effective e-credit vendor buy type set up for your Boffs:
Engineers:
Quick Fix I / Shield Recharge II / Equipment Diagnostics I / Reroute Power to shields III
Science:
Medical Tricorder I / Medical Tricorder II / Vascular Regenerator II/ Nanite Health Monitor I
Tactical:
Photon Grenade I / Target Optics I / Overwatch I / Motion Accelerator I
Now those last ones on the list like say Motion Accelerator or Reroute power to shields might not be vendor available and you'll have to get soaked for more e-credits than they're worth at the auction house for them, just suck it up and do it. It'll be worth it right now and one less thing to have to worry about as everything is hitting you all at once. You'll get some freebie Boffs; save the purple ones for later when you know what to look for in traits and all the blue ones and green ones and white ones...right click on them and click on 'create manual.' If any of those Boffs have any of these particular skills then turn that Boff into a manual for that skill. Already have the skill? f-it turn them into a manual; you'll want more later to train up good Boffs. On that note, don't sweat replacing these Boffs with better ones from the auction house or any of the new purples you get; you'll start with only 1 good one and the rest are all trash, BUT there will be better ones to free unlock later on after your level up so don't piss away any of your resources on Boffs right now just to throw them away later on anyway because nothing you want in a Boff can be bought for e-creds. If any of those boffs don't have any of the skills you want, sell them on the auction house for whatever you can get, there are suckers out there who don't read forums and they will buy that garbage, believe me.
Yet more Boff shinola. Science heals your hit points, Engineers heal your shields and no Boff puts out any significant damage ever, they're all just bullet sponges. You might want to just go with 2 Science Boffs and 2 Engineer Boffs when able. Also, what I said about not buying Boffs, you might have to if you get got by rng on the lowbie freebie Boffs to fill a ship seat. Ship seats are what you're going to want Boffs for and what you'll be learning their traits for later on; but for now when you need a Boff first check the bottom of your station tab where you'll be setting up what skills your Boffs use and there will be a little button at the bottom where all those purples you saved for later are living and hanging out smoking that devil weed since synthale gots no buzz at all. If you don't have what you need out of those then check your missions to see if anyone is telling you to come and see them for a free Boff. Yeah, when you see those missions don't complete them unless you need to to advance the story because, you might need a Boff sooner or later so save them for later like the last 5 chocolate chip cookies in the packet to gobble up for a midnight snack. Ok, e-credit cheapo Space Boff Skills:
Engineer:
Engineering Team ~ Emergency Power to Shields ~ Auxiliary Power to Structure ~
Reverse Shield Polarity ~ Aceton Beam
Science:
Science Team ~ Hazard Emitters ~ Polarize Hull ~ Tachyon Beam ~ Tractor beam ~Gravity Well
Tactical:
Tactical team ~ Beam Fire at Will ~ Beams Overload ~ Cannon: Rapid Fire ~
Attack Pattern Beta ~Attack Pattern Omega
The underlined ones are your 4th level slot skills and the bold ones are really just bush league skills to not duplicate something else in the second seat of a same type when you get into a crunch with those ship seats. You will have a lot of these skills on all your starter Boffs, so just mix and match between the two Boffs you've got there and buy as needed to work everything out. Yes, their order, level and structure is important, but not so much right now so just go with what you get. Every time you teach a Boff a skill it is going to cost you expertise and while later on you'll be swimming in it and burning it on turning marks currency into dil currency, right now you don't have a whole lot of that expertise currency lying around soo, when you're out of expertise you're out of expertise and then that skill just ain't gonna get trained any time soon you feel me? Try out new skills already on the Boff or later on after max level when you'll have the expertise to play around with it.
You'll be getting beams on your ships pretty much throughout, but cannons are sigma so learn 'em, love 'em and when you get 'em off some glass cannon escort eventually live the life. Beam fire at will is your defense against missiles and fighters that will aggro everything onto ur ace so use judiciously. Attack Pattern Omega along with ramming speed and go down fighting are your 'dueces' to disengage and jet tf outta town while also Omega and evasive maneuvers are your 'leroy jenkins charge in fast' buttons to nitro and get somewheres you need to be most riki tik in combat (going full throttle twinks ur power and inertias you to overshoot the target) they're also your skirt the aoe danger zone buttons. Hazard emitters wipe dots, just stay out of the dam whelps dammit and Polarize hull wipes holds. Do not sleep on Tachyon Beam. Tachyon Beam cycles fast and it burns shields, Tachyon Beam III is your go to and if you have 2 Science seats running both Tachyon Beam II and Tachyon Beam III instead of slotting in a Tractor Beam, that engagement with prejudice and lethal force is approved Ghost Rider. Shields aren't like they are in the shows, in the shows once the shields go down peeps fall out their chairs and rocks 'splode outta consoles; in game you gotta burn through shields to take down their hp and torpedoes (only ever slot 1 torp if ever you even do, trust me on this) torpedoes need their shields down to really baboom their babooms. Your shields though, meh, let 'em burn; pop shield heals as the come around otherwise don't fret too much because THEY ARE GOING TO SLAP THEM SHIELDS RIGHT OFFA YOUR SHIP FIRST THING DAY ONE AND AIN'T NUTTIN' YOU CAN DO 'BOUT THAT SON. Make sure they have decent shield hp and all that, they're not garbage but you should expect them to get got and very early on in your fights at that.
By the same token when setting up your skills go for capacity and hardness, forget about the regenerations, regenerations are for sucka mc's what don't read forums because your engineer and science teams, emergency and aux power as well as other similar thingamadoodad clickies you'll be getting along the way will heal you more and better and long long long before any regen does any little ol' thing for you whatsofrigginever. Play with the other skills though, you'll get a free respec, but respecs are expensive so chart out a build from knowing why you're building it that way before you burn your respec otherwise don't sweat your choices for now. Some are great, some suck except for particular builds, it's a whole 'nother wall-o-text for another time.
Speaking of wall-o-text, this inundation is proly all you need for the moment. I'm certain others will add all the important bits and pieces I've left off to ensure that you're overwhelmed. Final tidbit though. Get into your settings, go to ESC / Options / Controls; when you're on that tab scroll to the bottom, turn on auto attack and in the drop down tab there set it to 'toggle, never cancels.' There are settings for both ground and space under region at the tippy top of that same tab so be sure to pokemon them both. When you're comfortable with all this stuffola, ask this very same question again next week and you'll get tons and tons moar and different walls-o-text from us all to wear you out yet again. LLAP!

Also you should create a Gamma Recruit (Jem'Hadar) character before the current event expires. Play them just long enough to receive the Dominion Transponder; this will unlock access to several additional tasks and rewards, some of which are account unlocks, but the transponder tasks can be done anytime. You just need to get the transponder before the event expires.

I have written a couple more guides here in the Steam guide section which may help you understand ship design and acquisition. One important point is you will be given a few free ships as you level up - do NOT dismiss any of these until you unlock Admiralty (at level 52).

Find a better pastime, seriously...
So upgrade until you quit exploding.
You've said this before and I've called you on it before. This is REALLY BAD advice.
The reason being, there's just so much synergy (power from interactions) in STO, that a build will actually perform just as well (or better) *and be cheaper* if it's composed of well chosen mk XII gear, compared to a mishmash of mk XV gear.
Meanwhile... that mishmash of mk XV build... most of those pieces are going to eventually be replaced, and then you will have spent resources upgrading things that you're NOT USING. Wasteful much?
So yes, it's important to devise and get the "well chosen" parts, and THEN upgrade that well chosen mk XII build "until you quit exploding" or however you want to say it.
It really is a lot to take in at the Start... I am still finding myself really confused about what things to do, and what items to use^^
Especially weapons for my ship^^ So atm i am basically just using what i get from my missions that i do, and save all my resources like currency, so that i can spend it when i am more "knowledgeable" later on xD
Only thing i bought so far was for the blue credits a better shuttle at the start of "The Vault" mission^^ Just didnt like my small thingy so i went for the one for around 34k^^
I am now level 23 and so far still enjoying the Episode Story missions a lot, doing my Daily Halloween event every 20 hours, because i really want that kitty cat^^
When i reach 30 i think i will get either the Enterprise D or the Voyager, but probably go for the Enterprise.
I also accidently used a Purple Box, "Special Equipment Pack - Digitizer Plasma Weapons"... I had 4, no idea from where^^ Now i have 3... After using it i realized it says "Level apropiate" so i guess its better to use it later on when i am higher level xD
I find myself constantly looking through my inventory after missions and not knowing what to do with some of the things...
What are those little fur balls for? somehow i accumilated like 20 of them^^ And cant sell them^^ The tribble ones^^
Generally speaking you want to stick to a single weapons type, phasers, disruptors, etc. Then go with either beams or cannons. Some abilities only affect beam weapons, while other only effect cannons and turrets. Its pretty easy to go down a rabbit hole with this, but as a basic example, say you get the Galaxy Class and have phasers on there.
You will have phaser beams for all energy weapons, one torpedo launcher on the front, and maybe one on the back.
Your tactical consoles would all be phaser relays, which each give you like a 15% damage buff to phaser weapons.
Then you would have a bridge officer abilities like beam overload or beam fire at will, which would affect your beam weapons.
Like I said, if you really want to get into getting the best build possible, it gets complicated. So just using the best weapons until max level might be a good idea.
Sadly the shuttle will not get a lot of use, but it never hurts to have it on hand for the off chance you end up using it. But yeah it is a good idea to save up the energy credits (blue currency) for using on the market later.
The Plasma weapons were from the Fujiwhara Effect mission you did before.
Tribbles are items you and your bridge officers can carry. They act as temporary activated buffs for the character, with effects varying depending on the tribble. They will eat food items in your inventory and breed a new one. Specific ones breed off of specific foods or can only be purchased from the cash shop. But when you have one it should be in your tray like your other abilities and its buff usually lasts an hour, or until you get downed.
If your crew don't have any, you mine as well give each of them one. Then if you have any left you can either discard them, or get a cannibal tribble and put it in your inventory to eat them. The cannibal tribble gives you a carcass that can be sold on the market. They aren't super valuable, but it's an ok way to make some passive money. A stack of 20 is currently going for 10-18,000 EC on the market and the cannibal tribbles are going for about 8,000.
Also I would recommend looking into the tour the galaxy mission. It is a fairly easy way to a decent amount of EC once a day, and there is guides on the optimal path to get the most money.
