Winter Wonderland 2024?
---EDIT: Event has started, please stop responding. =P

Is it even happening? Are we getting a new ship? Should be starting on Thursday, eh? We should already know what's coming after The Feast, but we don't. =-\

Same thing that happens every year. We'll get a week long red alert, followed by the Winter Wonderland. We'll probably start getting info on the new ship late this week. This isn't anything new, happens every single year.

Actually they posted today (via Facebook) and it's starting tomorrow. Ship announced at same time.

they for some reason do not have a red alert before the winter event. though there is likely to be one after it.

Yeah I was kind of shocked that it posted today, but I'll admit that I was wrong here.
i was not surprised that they did not start a red alert. they usually do not.

Red Alert is usually used as filler between longer events, but in this case, the usual start date for the winter event fell right at the end of the prior event so I'm not surprised.

I was wondering myself if it was happening this year.

Oh, they've had it every year. They were just later than usual in announcing it.
the main difference for me is that i now have 3 profiles rather than 2. not that it bothers me.

Right, that's the part that had me wondering.
it is fairly normal. they are usually slow with announcing the winter and summer events. i once experienced however that a red alert event went live without them announcing anything.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but it seems to my memory that we usually get the ship announcement like a week before the event starts, then the stats a few days later.

Yep. That's how I remember ship events; some hype about the ship then the full event post. I've been here since beta with a break and that's what I'm used to. This is unusual and maybe due to the transition since the community manager has just left. New story content isn't being released as quickly so it wasn't implausible that the winter event was affected.
the web master is separate from the programmers though. winter, summer and red alert events is also easy to activate. to the point where they can be activated without maintenance. the winter event arrives earlier than last year, by 2 days.
