Has anyone ever tried to make a full on proton space build?
I don NOT plan on trying to do this since I use phasers. But let's just theorize for a second that someone (not me) would be stupid enough try a proton build. There are only 2 major weapons that deal consistent proton dmg, and consoles would need to be set to weapon type for that. This sounds like a terrible idea overall and not realistic. Especially since you can only equip a single proton beam weapon and the other type is limited to a 45 degree firing arc.

There's not enough weapons available to do it.

Yeah, I can see that. There's barely any consoles either, lol.

That could be worked around, honestly. +All Damage, +Beam/Cannon Damage, and +Critical Hit or +Critical Severity boosts would still be useful, and there's consoles out there that have 2 or 3 of these together.

My T6 Dyson Ships are all Tetryon/Proton Builds, and they do pretty well. I use the Dyson rep consoles that boost Tetryon and Proton damage and the Pahvo Proton set, Dyson Experimental Proton Weapon, and all the consoles from the Dyson ships. Probably not as good as other builds, but it does just fine

neither are viable tactic consoles

I experimented with it. Turned out to be junk in battle.

There actually are. They would not be specifically +Proton Damage.

Interesting. I've been wondering if anyone had ever attempted a viable mixed energy type build. Am I correct in assuming that the idea was to use one type to drop your opponent's shields and the other to do hull damage?

You can totally do a "viable" mixed energy build already, you would just have to avoid the energy-specific consoles and use the (less efficient) weapon-style consoles (such as +Beam Damage).

As for the "idea" you floated... most energy weapons are effectively the same in terms of shield vs hull damage. The "proc" effects are usually only 2.5% of the time, and most energy weapons have a 4-5 second firing cycle (depending on haste), so even with an 8 weapon ship you're talking about *one* proc hit every 24-30 seconds.

Basically, Though I mainly choose Tetryon because of the Tholian set that creates those crystals. I do find that things die a lot faster when I used a Tetryon build, especially when it's boosted the hell and back like my Vorgon Ryn'kodan Carrier, with all the Tetryon boosting consoles and the Vorgon Consoles. The Maelstrom Torpedoes help a lot too.

Mind you, if I were to do PVP, I'd probably be dead in 2 seconds flat, but in PVE, I do quite well :)

I only tried a few weapons, like what's it called something minds
that cloak and when enemy is target it follows and hits them,
also dual phasers and toxic torpedos
and the rapid phaser shooter , and yes i check spell checker on cell phone
the spelling of phaser is correct.

yeah not worth its bad
Proton is a viable option for weapon choice. I can think of 2 builds already.

1- Proton CSV build: The build would require the use of Isomags and universal consoles would be chosen with speed, turn rate and crit severity with crit chance.

2- Proton Sci beam builds: Main damage type would be Exotic Damage as a result, proton would be just for beam looks.

Tell me exactly how many proton weapons there are.

Use consoles with 20 percent all damage boosts. Proton weapons are ok, but Antiproton are better.
