Crafting.
It's been a long time since I have played last. I didn't realise changes were made until I tried landing on Memory Alpha. Can someone please explain the RnD side of the game, completely from a newbe perspective. I found that much of the guides that were available are reltativly cryptic at best.

Such as they didn't explain what level 15 was or how to get there or what it meant.
They didn't explain whether you were limited to a certain number of crafting paths, or wheather you could use all of them.
Where do you go to access crafting stations. Where are recipes crafted, or obtained. I just sold a scematic, because the wiki told me it's useless now.

I am not a real crafter yet, just been developing my one crafter. Looks like it can be a real money pit.

You can start R&D research at level 15.
I suggest only do One character as crafter, if you have other characters, they send materials to your desinated crafter. You can develope all the Schools to level 20, but everyone suggest stopping at level 15. There is no crafting station. If you have all the old data samples, you can convert them to new R&D materials by right clicking them. Items can be crafted by opening the Duty Officer interface and selecting the "R&D" tab. Selecting a school reveals a list of craftable components and items. Selecting an item allows players to configure the mark of the item and the variation (e.g. Energy type for weapons). Components required depend on the parameters of the item selected, with higher mark items requiring more components. Duty Officers of varying specialisations are also required to initiate a craft. You can start leveling up your schools by going to the bottom of the list and pick the Research Project for many hours and a few common RnD materials. You have to have Research Scientists to do R&D projects.

The "problem" is at the latest when your toons reach Captain rank, the items get hilariously expensive to craft.

I do the same for my alts, and I have no problem keeping them stocked with the best craftable gear... until they hit Captain. Maybe I'm not dedicated enough, but it gets ridiculous, wether you make lower end gear to upgrade or just craft the higher end stuff right away - which I do not recommend.
Because when you craft it low level, then upgrade, you get to play around with the raritiy additions first to find the ones you want, and it's not too painful to have crafted unwanted effects. If you flat out craft XII gear and the added effects are crap / not the ones you want, you lost a lot of good and rare resources in one go.
On the other hand, upgrading gets expensive af too after a while.

However, to get from lowest craft mark II to VI "only" takes one superior tech upgrade which comes at around 200k +/- a few EC, and you can even craft those yourself when you get to 15 or 20 in a R&D category (I think, not sure if 15 or 20). After that it gets progressively more expensive, especially the Dil cost can break your neck if you are not careful.

That's all just my 2 cents of course.
But bottom line, it's another scheme to take your dil away if you plan on crafting high-end gear.
Think carefully before you do things there, is my advice. Can definitely be worthwhile, but know what you do first. And then RNG gets in the way and eats your dil if you really want Ultra Rare or Epic gear.

For keeping your alts stocked with good gear up to a certain level, it's absolutely useful, though.

Whistler, it is not with "S". The word "realize" is a unique word that it is written the same in english uk, english us or watever languaje you want to write it. It is just southamericans for some reason, changed the "z" to "s" probably because it sounds better... they use to do things like that. They dont have a own languaje (the spanish from southamerica is not really spanish, just a -cheap- derivation from castillan from Spain) so they think they have the rights to change watever they want or they must think that lol. Its have been always that way. Also i have several southamerican friends (mostly from Argentina and Mexico) and i know what im talking about lol.
or typing typo since the "s" key is right above the "z" key maybe same finger.

I know this is off topic but it was mentioned earlier.

Brits who like to trash on Americans for spelling things different for seemingly no reason, ought to keep in mind that American English is a development from a form of proper English spoken in colonial times. In other words, it's an extension from the same thing they were speaking and writing.

It has nothing to do with that.... but watever lol.

It has everything to do with that.

I'm not taking orders from a kid on the internet. I will talk about what I like.

Except no one is saying "stupid things."

You're not getting it. You are a spoiled child with an inflated opinion about himself who can't stand not having last word and uses the anomynity of the internet to talk down to people in a way he could never do in person. You are a brat, you are spoiled, your parents are failures, and once you become an adult in the real world you are going to find that no one wants to be anywhere near you. Enjoy being a little nasty bastard now because your time is running out.

Brits are not a "race."

And for someone who kept saying they were done, you sure do keep going a lot.

Just hush up, turn the computer your mom bought you off, and go get air.
