T5-T6 Ships Question
So I'm at level 50, and it seems that the only way for me to get a new ship is to pay real life money. Are there any ways to get an upgrade token or a T6 ship for free?

You can buy a upgrade token on the exchange for you T5:steamhappy: or try to join a fleet with access to shipyards.:steamfacepalm:

With EC from the exchange (a lot, 50M to 750M depending on ship, some mirror ships are cheaper though). Some fleet ships cost only fleet credits (not many).

It's Zen, Lockboxes with luck, Lobi or tons of EC at endgame.

There are also events that take place during the year that reward a ship. These happen about three times a year, with the next one being the summer event on Risa. It is a bit of a grind, but you get a ship you can use on all of your toons.

The fleet modules that the fleet shipyards require cost zen points, 500 per module.
I suggest watching for reward codes on the internet, search for a ship on the exchange using keywords, grinding at an event, and if you quit playing for a while, maybe Arc sends you a reward code for a ship in e-mail. Where were you during the Anniversary event last month?

Keywords to search for:
mirror, cruiser, battlecruiser, vessel, escort, warbird, bird-of-prey, raptor, carrier

I second the T6 ships from events like Winterwonderland or the Summer festival. Unlike you would expect, you not only get a "competitive" ship for free, there have actually been some really derp rewards like the Breen Chel Grett years ago, it's only T5 (ugraded to T5U for free), but it still kicks ass, and only few T6 ships come even close to its combinaton of firepower, agility and endurance. I also like my Nandi Warship, perfect esp. if you got a Ferengi toon (just for the stylez). The Nandi will probably be available this summer again.

And as long as you are not going for the "extreme endgame" (like elite queues), you can pretty much do everything with that last free ship you got. ;)

Cryptic needs to update that. In my opinion, you should be awarded your last ship at level 50 with a standard T5 ship since level cap went up to 60. Then, they can lower the price of T5U ships in C-Store from 2500 to 2000 and T6 can stay at 3000 for bundles, 2500 for T6 retrofits. That's the way it should be but I doubt they would do that.

Dude. You are playing a mmorpg. GRIND. And you can buy a token in a week. About the ship, just be patience and wait for any event. There are always a couple (if not more) ships from events every year. If not, make more alts, and grind for dilithium and trade for zen.

But remember. You are playing a mmorpg. If you want stuff without paying actual money (something that i recommend you 200%) you need to grind. Like in every single mmorpg.

And remember, T6 are not "superior" to T5U or even some T5. Just play the ship you like the most, even if it is a T5 and remember that the "trick" to make a ship good is the equipment, traits, and stuff.

What world do you live in yes T6 are superior..the simple addition of the ship mastery trait can make sure of that..cryptic are quite good at power creep your average T6 will wipe almost any T5U out there, and for raw DPS the 3 king ships out there are all T6.

Purely stats-wise, yes they are superior. but that only really matters in PvP. And PvP in this game is borked anyway (meaning I wouldn't recommend it).

Point is, you can play ALL the content minus PvP events with a T5 ship and decent gear.
You can get the rep sets by grinding. You can get fleet equipment by grinding.

You can get some T5-U ships and the fleet module / upgrade token by some (granted, serious) grinding.

Unless you want to want to win a versus match, there is no need for C-Store ships.

You can still do fairly good with a T5-U ship. It wasn't until the Jupiter-Class came out that I've stopped using my Atrox and I've gotten other T6 ships before that, but most of them didn't work out for me so I was mostly stuck with the Atrox. I've earn most players gotten the T6 ships mostly to get the Starship trait and quickly switched back to what ship the did best with. Some T6 ships are good, but that doesn't mean that can't be beaten by a T5-U

That is about what I do with the free Tier 6 ships I get. Unlock the trait then switch back to one of the Following ships;

T5-U Risian Corvette, B'rel, Marauder, T'Varo, Patrol Escort Refit, Jem Hadar Dreadnought Carrier, Bortasqu' Command (3 pack with onlt the command upgraded), Dyson Science Destroyer (Reward one from the 4th anniversary).

T5 Patrol Escort, Vo'Quv Carrier, Ha'feh Assault Warbird, Qin Heavy Raptor (Free level 40 options that I go for) Kamarag Battle Cruiser Retrofit, Armitage Heavy Escort Carrier, Atrox Carrier, Andorian Escorts (3 pack but none upgraded yet).

The Tier 6 ships I have gotten free and can choose to use are the Tactical Escort, Ferengi Nandi Warship, Kobali Samsar Cruiser, Breen Sarr Theln Carrier, Breen Rezreth Dreadnought Cruiser, Krenim Science Vessel.

Only use I have for the T6 ships I have aquired is the Trait even if some of them are good ships performance wise They are not as visually appealing to me and don't fit my prefered playstyle. Ferengi Nandi will be used on my Ferengi Tactical toon I am currently leveling for the RP reason of putting her in an actual racial ship. But she is only 1 of 19 or so toons14 of which are in the 50-60 range.(The Delta Recruit event kind of forced me to start 3 more on 1 account and 1 more on my alt "Free" account that I never buy things on other than 1 month of sub time when my first 2 toons hit 50 and I wanted a third bank toon on the account). Not once since the T6 ships went live have I felt that I needed to be in a tier 6 for PvE.

As much as I would like a select few of the Tier 6 C-store ships none of them are worth the 3k+ Zen which whould cost me almost $45 CAD for 1 ship and the T5-U ships I have are just as good as the Tier 6 versions PvE wise at least as I don't PvP and there are no Tier 6 Orion ships for my Orion toons KDF side.

Well you can visit the dilithium exchange and make some zen there for dilithium.
ImperatorPavel Mar 13, 2016 @ 6:26am
Although it'll cost you around 900,000 dil for a T6 C-Store ship. Personally I fly a Sarr Theln, although I should go back to a samsar to get the trait.
