T5U vs T6 Ships

Simply put can a T5U keep up in the third dufficulty STF's? Im just comming back to the game and i have at least one T5U on each toon, and im level 50 odd all my toons. Just want to plan wether to save for T6 when i hit lvl 60 or not :)

Yes. The main difference between T5U and T6 ships is that the T6 ships have a unique starship trait to acquire.

Cool thanks, i think the T5U ones have a trait aswell. Is it unlocked through xp earned in that shp and shows up on the ship screen with 4 "levels" to it?

No, that's starship mastery progression. T6 ships have 5 boxes there, and the 5th box is the starship trait.

T5Us don't have starship traits, T6s do.

bro, I have a T5-U Tactical Odyssey and I'm a Tact Captain. I once shred a T6 Presidio Command Battlecruiser like it was so easy. so the point is that T5-U isn't so outclassed by T6, what matters is what you put in your ship....

This.

The actual difference between T5u and T6 ships themselves is basically only 1 boff slot. T5/u got 12 slots and T6 13. Aside from that T5U/T6 and Fleet T5U/ Fleet T6 are practically the same stat wise.
That's also the reason why it's often a waste to get one of those "t6 refits" when you already have the T5. The T6 Excelsior being a prime example for this.

I like it, i was all ready to get the hump that my cannon ships and lil vette would be obsolite. Now im a very happy chappyto know defiant and voyager will still be usable on the higher levels. Guess my next grind will be for the cannon enterprise ship that splits, never got round to grabbing it last time i played. Can that one go T5U?

They have different seatings as well some of em for intel seatings and Command seatings pilot.

The T5 galaxy can. Now there's a galaxy bundle which contains the T4 gal, T5 gal (the one with the separation console) and the gal-x dreadnought.
Also for both the gal & gal-x are aslready T6 versions out which a got slightly better boff layout than their T5/U counterparts. They can also use the separation console though the only way to get it is buying the T5 gal.

I kinda wish there was an upgrade for some of the other ships aswell. I love the Akira class ship and did, a very long time ago, outfit it with all Mk12 gear and rolled into an stf. I just really wanted to use it again, but there was much shouting and moaning......even tho i chose the lowwer difficulty STF......so i never did it again haha

I wont. A t4 should kept that way. We are reaching a point in which every single ship is upgraded to T6. Ridiculous. If a ship is not advanced enough to be a T6, because it is an old ship or a ship with other roles, its stupid to upgrade it to a T6. That ship should kept as T4 or watever. Starfleet will never build better versions of their ships, its stupid. They do refits sometimes, but new versions??? never. Because i fly a NX, and i love that ship, because is canon that doesnt mean they need to do a T6 version, it will be ridiculous. lol.

Facing war on all fronts i would argue every ship would be upgraded and pressed into service :P

Its just a waste of ships IMO, all those ships that could still be flown adding to diversity. Even maybe extra different missions, designed for lvl 60 players but requiring lowwer tier ships to take part culd be a good way to do it :)

If you wanted a Tier 5 or Tier 6 Akira you will have to go the Heavy Escort Carriers as the previous one is only a Tier 3. I bought the Tier 5 Armitage back around the time it was released on it's first 20% discount sale, because I loved the Akira as well and it just didn't hold up to the Damage output of the Tier 5 Patrol Escort you could get for free at 40. Haven't gotten the Tier 6 version yet due to saving up Dil for Zen to buy the cross-faction bundle. More of a wanting it for my colllection and to compare it since it has a slightly different B.Off layout.

Got the Tier 6 Tactical Escort for free from Raptr but don't have the tier 5 for the stealth mudule haven't played it yet tho. I mostly either run a T5-U or teh Tier 6 ships just to get the Starship Trait from mastery then switch back to the T5-U.

Ahhhh yeah, i forgot about that Arrmitage. Can that go T5U, and does it have the proper Akira skin if i customise it?

If it cani might end up hunting that next instead of the splitting enterprise :)

Yeah you can use do the Akira Skin on it if you want and yest it can be upgraded. Even teh Tier 6 Heavy Escort Carrier can be made to look like the Akira. The 3 Federation only Heavy Escort Carriers are all the same model base line in the game.

Any Tier 5 C-Store Ship, Breen, Risian vessels, the Anniversary Dyson Science destroyer, Lobi and Lock box grand prize ships all can be upgraded from T5 to T5-U.

A few more ships have been added to that list since then nut they are all Blue quality requisition boxes from the Lockboxes.

Only ships not upgradable at Tier 5 are the Mirrior variants, Dilithium/Free level up token ships, 200k fleet credit retrofit ships, mission reward ships (Anniversary variants of Bortas Battle Cruiser, and Odyssey Star Cruiser, Kamarag Battle Cruiser Retrofit, Support Cruiser Retrofit and Obelisk Carrier).
