EPS
If my power transfer rate is already at 300+%, is there any point in investing in the starship EPS skill?

Depends on your build. If you don't change power levels much in combat, you can almost 100% ignore that skill. For tactical, say. If you only ever have it set to weapons, there is little point in shifting it to something else.

If you play a scientist though you would shift from weapons to auxiliary a lot, so it would make sense to invest - you can shave off several seconds by improving that skill + what you have from consoles and whatnot, which is good in combat (firing weapons while waiting for your space magic to cool down, then set full power to aux and unleash hell, directly switching back to weapons).
Edit: The above is not accurate, you can't set full aux, only balanced.

Also, it's kinda important if it's about % or +.
If it's % and your skill is low, you won't get much benefit.
If it's +, it's straight up skill points so to speak.

Sorry if I missed something, I generally don;t pay too much mind on power transfer, I rely more on the BOFF skills like Emergency Power to Blah and the like, so I don't even know if there is different items for % and + available. But those get a boost as well in terms of the time it takes for the power to go to max,.

Generally though, yes a higher flow transfer rate helps when you need to switch it around in combat. The higher, the faster you get the overcharge effect of going to 100 and beyond.

Well, power transfer rate is, just like complex arithmetic, something you use more than you think. For example, if you charge in at full impulse to get into weapons range, it increases the speed at which the power transfers back from engines to weapons (among other subsystems) when you drop out of full impulse. Also, in combat, (assuming you have your weapons subsystem set to max), it increases the rate at which it pulls power from the other subsystems, slowing your power loss resulting in more DPS. On a different forum I read someone said it best: EPS = DPS. :)

But OK, I was just wondering if the skill made a difference at all, apparently not...
